Arrived at La Columbiere, Neydens (in France but close to Geneva) at about midday today.  Lovely site and lovely pitch.  A favourite site of ours.

We got the rest of the awning down and packed away in readiness for tomorrow.

Its been sunny here for most of the afternoon and evening. It's dark now though, as you would expect with the days drawing in.

Busy afternoon helping out at an open gardens day,  raised over £90 on the gate for local funds so worth the effort. The weather was kind to us, looks like some good weather ahead this week. Sounded a bit windy up in the Cairngorms today, did I hear 115
mph, I remember what it was like living up there!

Well done Brue with the fund raising, good weather does make a differance, the wind up here as you know can be pretty bad not usually at this time of year though. Wouldn't have wanted to be up the hills today.

Rain in the afternoon, worse this evening, and still pretty windy.

Spent some time helping OH to sort out the backlog of bank statements, credit card statements and various other paperwork that needs to be filed, we now have about 20 different piles to work on.  One of the problems of taking long holidays.

Next thing is to gather together the info for our tax returns, OH should be due a small refund, which is always nice.

Thanks ABM, when the Brit Military where in Germany a lot of those guys came here camping and skiing.  The highlight is the cracking steam railway to the top of the Brocken Mountain at 6600 feet.  In years gone by this was a Russian listening post!

Is that where the cheese comes from? We like Columbiere cheese but it don't half make the fridge smell.

Why don't you just move the caravan to the CL, Malcolm?

Having got the awning down, that must be the worst part of moving. Setting up the caravan takes about 15 minutes - must be less than faffing about with a tent (and a darn site more comfortable!).

Still think you should be off to Chipping Sodbury though......

Cloudy and cooler today. Dark sky now and the odd spot of rain. Drove into Evesham to restock on provisions at Lidl, etc. Parked down by the river and had a walk round the parks & up the Bell Tower and the parish churches.

Having got a reversing camera on my latest tug, I find my wing mirrors are the best option to reverse with, except for the last 2 inches or so.

Lovely sunny day today blue skies too, but oh the wind 55mph with gust up to 70mph, still with a bit of luck the wind will have blown all those horrible nasty grey clouds away. More sorting out of the attic another run to the skip and a boot full to the
    charity shops.

Write your comments here...The tent is very quick and easy to erect because it's inflatable. You just peg it down and pump it up. It's not worth hitching up the caravan and unhitching and towing backwards and forwards such a short distance just for two days and having to level it each time.

We left the site at 11 a.m. and we had arrived and had the tent pitched and ready in time to start work at 12. A few minutes later the first order came through for Macdonalds.

Arrived home this afternoon, slightly later than planned from our weekend away. We were late leaving the CL, stayed to help another couple sort water problem in their caravan. All fixed when we left. Happy

Just made it back in time for work this afternoon!

First visited the Harz circa 1955.  Today took the fantastic steam train to the the top of Mount Brocken, 6500 feet high, used to be in the Russia Zone and was a listening station.  Fantastic views today, then we walked the 11ks back down.
