Now arrived at a nice little site just SE of Luxembourg city, quite a few UK vans here too.  Weather not too bad today, managed to cook and eat dinner outside after putting on our thick sweaters!   Now back in the van with the heating on.

Short trip from Nancy to here so arrived in good time for lunch and spent the afternoon planning what to do.

Unusually for an ACSI site, they wanted to know how long we planned to stay and asked for payment up front.  Even worse......they don't take credit cards!  Luckily we had enough cash to pay for 4 nights.

However OH has made a 4 day plan, so we will need to raid the bank to pay for a 5th night here.  The forecast is not good so plans may well change.

The last leg of the trip will be to a site on the coast in Belgium on Sunday, in preparation for our ferry on Monday morning, then we have another 9 days till we are due home.

    Write your comments here...

Enjoy your last few days kj and safe journey home.

I will take sun over rain anyday of the week Malcolm, we had some very good weather while in Spain on the Costas 32c was about the hottest but we had a good sea breeze so it wasn't uncomfortable,  the nights were cooler and sleeping wasn't a problem. We
don't object to a bit of sitting around enjoying the weather but we do like to get out for a cycle most days, I'm not a big walking fan prefer to cycle. It's typical that now we have satellite reception there's nothing but football on to watch in the eveningsFrown

What to do today?  I can see area's of blue skies and white clouds, some grey ones too but nothing like the heavy skies of the last few days. Forecast is for thunder storms, they didn't happen yesterday so hoping they won't today. Think we will try another cycle ride if possible.

Thanks Bakers2 for the good wishes, from what we see on the news uk have not been having it great either.

We will be looking for a site for a couple of nights between visiting our sons. Somewhere between Tidworth and Penistone, thinking of Rutland water, all suggestions wellSmile

We have never stayed at The Rutland Water site Tammy but it gets rather mixed reviews.  I would check them if I were you.  How about Stamford Top Lodge? I hope the weather picks up for your last few days but I have my doubtsUndecided Have a good time anyway and enjoy seeing your boys on the way home.  Safe journey.Smile

Write your comments here...The BBC weather forecast says remaining unsettled, Milliehull. So I think you'll find you'll get sunny spells interrupted by the occasional shower.  But look on the bright side, a spot of rain should keep your lawn greener and your flowers blooming!

Bit further south than Rutland, we've not done that site so can't comment but ferry meadows is lovely got great walks cycling on the doorstep, even into city itself should you need dose of retail therapy . Nice place to have coffee/snack overlooking one
if the lakes.  Graffham water is OK too.

Won't be on for a couple of days enjoys yourselves folks.

We're just back from 3 nights at Englethwaite Hall. The weather was mostly kind, and we sat outside doing nothing! We had one day out - over to The Lakes Distllery at Bassenthwaite and came away with a couple of samples.

It's one of our favourite sites - quiet, peaceful, green - and it never feels overcrowded.

It's back to the real world now.

i can recommend Top Lodge aka Stamford, one of our favourites, but no toilet block, Graffam Water is good too. We also used a good CL not far from Graffham Water that had a shower and toilet.

Shame part 2 was only 34 posts short of the Sunday departures thread which i believe was the thread with highest number of posts.

The trouble was that about 10% of those posts were for blank pages and and another 20% were MMs attempt to get to gold, so in reality proper posts would not match those on the Sunday Departure issue.

    Write your comments here...SadSurprised

And he is already upto 22% of the thread posts on here and still hasn't posted anything interesting, as i dont know about others but the adventures of a pizza delivery driver is not my choice of reading especially when it keeps disrupting the thread!Surprised. You are right jeffCC. I did my own little survey (just in case I'd been totally out on my previous comments on the closed thread.) In 22hrs by page 11 on this thread there were 107 posts, the major poster was MM. Many of his comments were to posters who'd
previously said they would not be responding to him. This indicates someone who is not engaging with anyone and has no intention of abiding by the rules on here.

Today was supposed to be the best of the next few days (only occasional downpours) so we headed SW to Schengen on the Moselle then N along the river and into Germany near Trier.

Only a couple of heavy showers, quite a few sunny spells.

Coming back we drove S in Germany along the Saar river, stopped to buy some German wine to bring home and some other shopping, before crossing the Moselle again at Schengen.

The camp site, which was pretty empty when we went out, has filled up again and we are now squashed in between a German MH and a Dutch caravan. There was barely room to park our car!

The site has plastic grids in the grass to give a firmer base, and on the pitches in the area we were allocated, we have to park parallel to the road with the car at right angles to the road at one end of the pitch, there are hedges between the pitches. The warden instructed us to park like this.

As we have a long van, we have to have the hitch about 30cm over the "dividing line" so we can just get the car behind the van and still open the doors on one side.  However our Dutch neighbour has put his van so far back towards us that his 2 bikes are overhanging the hedge.  Quite how he thinks he will get to them now we are parked right up to the other side of the hedge is a mystery!

He only has a small van, so has more than enough space in front of his hitch for parking his car, clearly he has not thought this through.

However, the weather has deteriorated again, so much heavy rain it is now cascading off the Fiamma, so I doubt he will be wanting the bikes tonight.  Dinner will have to be eaten inside today.
