What I did in work today

Think I might take up working again as the easier option. It's currently a case of 'do this or 'do that' or why haven't you..... At least at work I could go for a fag break, lunch break, elevenses and get considerably more than HMG is paying me by way of
pension. Also tend to get more peace & quiet that way.0 -
Malcolm, if you must post about every single delivery you make, can you please keep them on this thread and not duplicate them on the "What I did today" thread. It could be argued that you are monopolising
threads which, as you know, is against our T&Cs.Many Thanks.

Thankyou Jill, I think we should also all be wary of anyone who attempts to play others posters off one another. It's a sign that things "aren't quite right."

I have resigned ? and won't be returning after our NZ trip. Will probably look for something on our return in September either temp or seasonal possibly another office job. Well see what the situation is when the time comes. Feeling liberated ?

How busy it will be also depends on how wet it is. Let's face it, when it's pouring with rain, would you want to go out for a meal or would you prefer to stay at home, look at the menu online, click on the items you want and have it delivered to your home?
No, I would prefer to cook 'proper' food and not live on Junk!

Big step, Bakers2 but does feel good, I left a job I didn't enjoy a couple if years ago, felt great, now I have a part time job, with very flexible hours which is great, and suits me much better.

Not doing anything at work today ,as we don't open on Wednesday's
Why not close on Mondays instead (as they seem to do in France) and then you can get away for a full two days. If you are unsure about your customers agreeing you could always have a referendum!

it can become very mundane though , do we really need to read every bus stop a driver stops at
or even how many stamps are put on an envolope , I
thought this thread would be more for those who maybe on a busman's holiday while on site , it's the same with the what are you doing today
, do you really want to hear how many loads of washing or ironing I done today, when we are all at home general household duties careing for grandchildren ect trips to the shops no not interesting , packing your van preparing for a trip where your going yes
that readableIf people are doing something interesting then I'm happy to hear about it but I don't find the Facebook type posts which give every detail of what sounds like a boring day of any interest at all. I might as well go out and spend the day in company as I
almost feel I've been there anyway.0 -
Today I will be doing my books for the end of my financial year and VAT , oh what fun
Have fun Husky, at least year end is only once, vat however is every three months, unfortunately!

Renewed the Sage Cover on the payroll today, expensive I know, but we'll worth it for the help if anything goes wrong.
Starting to go into panic mode, only a couple of days left to get everything done before almost 2 weeks off. Nothing gets done when I am away.

Had to go into work today, don't normally do Saturday, but have so much work to get done before my holiday. The trucks and drivers, together with the boss have gone to Malvern, to the truck show, Me, well I got to do the month end invoices.

HMRC will decide your employment status, Malcolm......it's not your choice.
It only said that about Class 2 contributions because you chose to tell them (incorrectly, possibly) that you are self employed.
If they decide that you are employed, two firms will be found not to have been following the tax and NI rules.
Write your comments here...So I'll just have to wait and see what they say.

Malc, you don't want to upset the HMRC
Write your comments here...Perhaps I shouldn't have registered then!

You will indeed.....
Write your comments here...Can parking fines be offset against tax? I've had two work related parking charge notices for collecting orders from Macdonalds that have cost me a total of £123.

That would be an excellent way to upset them....
Write your comments here...Like the saying goes: you're damned if you do and damned if you don't!

Dinnertogo office is 4 miles from where we are staying. So there and back 8 miles commute per day, that's about the only personal use, the rest is business. Also about 400 miles personal use holiday when we attended the National Rally in Shropshire.
Your holiday was in the current tax year (2016/2017), your first tax return will be for 2015/2016, so you need to think about all the moving between sites you did before 6th April 2016 and any holiday travel in that tax year.
Much easier to keep a record of delivery mileage and calculate your expenses that way. HMRC may well ask for your records, especially if you declare you have hardly any personal mileage.
If you haven't used the Government Gateway before, they will be sending you an activation code which you have to use the first time you log in.
I think the code expires after a certain time, so probably a good idea to use it as soon as possible.
