I hope this does not upset anyone but thought as there was a post mainly for us retired people to discuss what we do at our leisure that there should also be a post for those still working to post. Just as some might be jealous of our freetime, some might
be missing work cammeradery.

There's no difference apart from the fact that you don't get paid, don't get formal holidays and don't generally get stuck in commuting queues.

    No missed lunches, late deadlines.

This I hope will help the workers discuss their day so that we can be envyious.

An agency has just employed me to help sort out a companies computer system which is in an awful state.  When I pointed out that I had no experience their response was
don't worry neither has anyone in their IT department so you won't be rumbled
    Surprised

it can be a bit worrying when the Accountant asks to see you "to discuss tax".

are you self employed Goldie or are you an employee, if self employed do you have to fill in a form and declare your income for tax purposes, or do you say you are an emplooyee and blame the boss?

Or do you insist that you are self employed (despite the obvious evidence to the contrary) but then just not bother with a tax return?

Totally self employed - so we do tax returns every year. And include all our income (farm, pensions, and the rest) - but just as important - all our expenses and costs.

Blame the boss - I can't imagine what you mean!

Seriously, we couldn't manage it without the accountant.

But we're also "a boss" and deduct tax and NIC from our emloyees, and report to HMRC using RTI.

Busy day at work, mostly accounts,  but also did the  employees wages, all tax and NI deducted so all above board for HMRC, even the casual staff!  Take note Malcolm, it's the way it should be done.Wink unless
you are self employed of course.

Are you cutting for silage? We're not quite there yet, but at last it's warm and dry. And tonight the milk cows went back outside after milking. No more night time checks (on those at least).
