Apple iOS 9.3
I got a message on my iPad that iOS 9.3 was available to install, but as it needed to be connected to a pc I didn't bother at the time.
But I checked my phone and that said that the os was up to date (iOS 9.2.1) - strange!
However, having now researched it a bit, it seems that iOS 9.3 was causing a lot of problems with older iPads (iPad 2) and iPhone 5S and earlier.
So Apple withdrew the update and stopped sending messages to those devices. You can still update newer devices (if you dare!) and they are working on a special version of the update for older devices - apparantly the one for iPad 2 is now available.
One of the problems is that you cannot turn the device back on if you don't have the password and ID that the device was originally set up with - a problem if you changed it or haven't owned it from new. I believe that Apple shops are helping customers.

The "not connected to the internet" during verify is a known problem that has been around for a number of apple updates - there's lots of info about this on search engines.
Harley Dave - I doubt it was your internet connection - I've got 38Mbps on fibre broadband and I was getting the same message on an iPad 2.
I've Deleted User the download of IOS 9.3 for now until Apple get their act together. They're not always as perfect as their publicity would have the world believe!!

Quality and reliability seems to have fallen since the demise of Steve Jobs.

My Air is running on 9.3 without issue, when asked to sign in I just 'skip' then carry on. I'll check out the old Pad-thanks for the info

I had no problems updating my IPad Air and IPhone 5c, I also updated ITunes. Slightly less successful, as when I opened iTunes again there were only 56 random songs. A quick google. Told me how to move the Library and rename the newest Previous Library as
Library. Now back to 9000+ songs!0 -
I am always a little apprehensive of updating software/firmware using wi-fi as what happens if the 'signal' is lost during update, are you left with a non functioning device?
Canon seems to have a good system whereby you download the update onto a memory card and then insert that into the device and update from that
(sorry if this is slighly off topic)

Apple's desire to try and make their IOS more attractive to users has resulted in their otherwise faultless and fully tested software of yester-year suffering from poorly implemented and inadequately tested upgrades. You would have thought they might have learned from Microsoft's upgrade mistakes, but no, Apple's mistakes are surpassing them.

Write your comments here...My iPad Air has been playing up for the past few days but this was before I updated it to the new version thinking that would remedy the problem...wrong. Its even worse. How do you delete IOS 9.3?

I'm afraid, to the best of my knowledge, you cannot delete it once installed, Sally. You can, however delete it at the download stage prior to installation. What problems are you having? I've installed 9.3 on both Air and Air 2 Pads with no hiccups apparent.

I tried updating mine and it has asked for a 4 digit code - don't ever recall having one of those! And it seems the set up details are a mixture of mine and my daughters which is quite confusing! Hopefully I will sort it out eventually.

Pippah, it's giving you the option of setting a passcode. Tap the button and one of the options is not to set a passcode. Even if you set it, you can always take it off again later.

Just downloaded it tonight, took ages, I downloaded before seeing this thread, apart from that four digit code I guessed and guessed right, the only difference I could see ws to update Icloud

I downloaded it yesterday and it is now extremely difficult to use the internet, it also effects email links, it seems to be iOS 9.3 and booking.com app and some other apps that's caused the problem according to the Internet. I've
had to resort to using my old iPad until Apple do another download to sort it. My advice is don't download it till apple have got it right.0 -
Thanks Tinny - I feel really daft because of course the 4 digit code is the normal one I use (wish I didn't have to do that so will try and remvoe that one!) I don't know why I though that it needed to be a different code - possibly because it presented
differently!? So it's downloading happily - I hope it works and I don't regret doing it!0 -
You're welcome, Pippah. I've now updated my 4s phone as well and can't see any problems.
You can remove or add the passcode quite easily. Go to Settings and scroll down the list to Passcode then follow it through.

Apparently it fixes a problem that caused apps to be unresponsive.
