How can we liven this section up?

We have simply got to liven this section up somehow!

It used to be quite lively, but now its just terminal boredom!  We have such riveting threads such as 'What are you all up to today?" ( As if anyone really cares ) and "What is it like for you?)"  discussing the weather Oh great!

The trouble is that if someone just even dares to pen something the slightest bit interesting it gets shunted into the backwoods where it probably won't be seen.

Suggestions please!

The obvious first step is to shut down a lot of the peripheral sections and include more subjects under this section eg 'entertainment'. Personally I do not trawl through anything that is buried is the backwaters, I tend to look only in general chat.

    Couldn't agree more TF.

Call me shallow but I'm happy with the way things are.  TF as long as you comply with the T&C's there is no reason why you can't post whatever you like in this section, so the answer is in your own keyboard

Truthfully, I am really sick to death of listening to "T&C apply".  This is an excuse that if anything goes wrong its ot your fault.  What's happened to full blown discussions.  You get the above applying everywhere, on the radio, TV and now this place.
Get a life and "talk".  Don't use "T&C apply" just as an excuse not to talk about interesting discussionsYell.  What is happening is that no one
    talks anymore

If your posts end up in the 'backwater' then they were uninteresting and boring from the start. There is a limit to what can be posted in 'General', its set by the CM and we have no option to veer away from it, 'tis life.

I respect the views of the OP, and agree that the forum used to be lively.  but due to the policy of the Forum Management, lively discussion is now disallowed on this forum.  We either accept this, as I and many other posters do, or post on other forums
which allow the type of discussions you desire.

Many of us are members of a number of forums and we post on each according to their respective rules. So if we want to take part in a lively discussion, we have plenty of choice.

My thoughts are that i tend too agree with TF on this.I think that some threads are sinking without trace especially in this section and the fun and trivia section.I will admit that i dont like being told what i can and cannot discuss but i also accept how we have got too this situation with the T/C,s and thats a bit sad as its restricted this forum quite a lot IMO..I dont use other caravan forums anymore as i,m just not interested in them but thats just my choice. The trouble is its hard too know what might work for the better in the future also its that time of year when i would have thought usage was at a premium but things seem too be a bit on the repetative side and a tad on the mundane side at the moment.

This used to be quite lively but unfortunately it came with a lot of baggage.  Some just didn't know where to draw the line so the CM, rightly IMO, drew the line by invoking the t&c's.  We either live with that or walk away, the choice is ours.

V9 thanks for that, very eloquantly put, that is what I was getting at.  When I said "shunted into the backwoods" I really meant  on to another section. I do accept that sometimes there might be another section more suited, but the fact is that - as already
has been said many members dont bother to look at them unless they are actively searching for something.

I fully accept that all fora must have terms and conditions but I think that the overly strict enforcement of ours is having the effect of dumbing ours down, and could ultimately lead to its demise.

Despite my low star count I was an early contributer to this forum, I strongly support it, and that is why I have raised this issue.

Write your comments here...That won't happen H/D. -- Most are enjoying posting on other forums I use.    I doubt they would want to return here.

Some of us are long term posters on here and have supported the Forum since it started. Although the forum has changed we still make the effort to add a post or two every so often to keep the forum alive. We are also happy to provide feedback and suggested solutions to the many IT failures which blight the smooth running for forum members.  That the genuine support falls on deaf ears is not the fault of any of the members.

"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated"
    - Mark Twain

As ever Kennine, you always give me a chuckle with your predictions that the CT Forum is "dying" - you've been saying this for quite a while now, but one only has to look around the Sections which are actually about our hobby to see that they are very much "alive & kicking"!

On a wider point re the OP, the level of activity in those Sections also clearly demonstrates that "many members" do not only visit General Chat. far from it in fact.

And they do not see those Sections as "the Backwoods" - they are actually the subject matter we would expect to see on a Caravan & Motorhome Forum!

    Funny that!

    Cheers

I haven't been around long but agree with you tigerfish, it seems that "the champions" see it as there job to move things, warn us to be nice to protect the sensitive little souls on here and close threads down as they please. Now I totally understand that
there should be no bullying but it seems you can't post an honest opinion on some things as it might cause offence or be politically incorrect.

    Hi Furball

The role of the Champions is set out in the Community Guidelines. To help you, I have set out the relevant para below:

Our community champions are all members of The Club who have volunteered to help keep Club Together a happy place to be where members feel welcome to contribute. We have asked them to help us keep discussions on topic, close or remove contentious discussions
or posts, delete spam, direct new members around the community, move discussions to the right areas and help Club Together grow and develop by being positive contributors to the community.

Note: no mention of "warn us to be nice to protect the sensitive little souls on here and close threads down as they please."

    Cheers

What do you expect the Champs to do when people post in the wrong sections, Furball? It helps us all if threads are in the appropriate place. I'm no lover of the T&Cs but, if you stick to them, you won't come a cropper or incur the wrath of the CM. See,
it's simple really. Just follow the rules.

We can probably liven it up by posting interesting topics, which everyone can join in.  I had one in my mind, when I woke up in the middle of the night, and thought everyone will have a witty answer to that one.  Then this morning I thought 'I must post that topic on General Chat'.  Trouble is I can't remember what it was..............!

Perhaps there should be a thread 'What important thing did you forget to remember...................'.

Generally I'm happy with the forum. I look at it most days and post, on average about every two weeks. What I would like to see changed, though, is the way that posts are hijacked by others taking the thread completely away from and with no connection whatsoever
    to the OP.

Some time ago I asked a serious question for which I would have been very grateful for a serious reply. It was obvious that the first person to send a reply hadn't read my post completely and then the next six or eight subsequent posts were two members having
a personal conversation about one of their issues. I never did get a meaningful reply. I guess other members gave up reading the thread as it degraded into irrelevant waffle.

JohnM20 has highlighted a serious problem. That of threads being hijacked.  Of all the forums I use, this is by far the worst   for threads being hijacked.

Put a stop to this antisocial practice Moderators !!!!----- so allowing the threads to flow,  this would  go a long way to address the OP's aims to make the forum more lively and interesting

The point of my making a comment was that the conversation should have been seperate from the subject under discussion and continued elsewhere, perhaps on the original thread about the Merc. Comments about chucking the toys out are not helpful ADP

I'm not sure what has happened but all the posts on page 3 seem to be about a totally different subject! Redmick is talking about  fridge useage and a Mercedes, neither of which were subject of comments before, & then all the subsequent posts follow on.  Are they from a different thread or is it a deliberate Hijack!

If so the club should take firm action!
