Kevin Vardy is only 53 but has  been diagnosed with terminal Prostate Cancer.

He has started a petition simply proposing to the  Government that  men  from the age of 50 are contacted directly to make them aware that they have the right to a test if they are concerned about their prostate health.

Whether the men take any action would be entirely up to them

This very worthwhile petition only requires  75000 votes to trigger a debate but seems to be stalling. Please add your names, one day it may save your life

Signed although I think general awareness and education needs to start younger than that.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at Christmas 2009 , I was 59 at the time. I had none of the symptoms ( going to the loo often, poor flow, pain) and it was only found because of a routine PSA blood check. I had 6 months on tablets and then 32 doses of
radiotherapy . Every thing is fine now and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has Transfered me back to my GP , who will keep an eye on me in the tears ahead. The PSA check certainly saved me from developing this awful disease. I now know that you can buy a test
kit from Boots. So for the price of a bottle of wine you can check yourself if you don't fancy going to the doctors.

A word of caution on home test kits, see this link
    here
I would have thought that if someone is sufficiently worried about their health that they buy a test kit, which are not cheap, they should pluck up their courage to see their GP instead.

I totally agree with David , by far the best course of action is to see your GP if you have any issues or concerns.
