Where can I find the CC WiFi charges.

Is it just me or is it a very difficult website to navigate to find anything ?

Are you looking at daily, weekly or annual charges? Last time I renewed annually (probably June/July this year) it was either £24 or £25 I recall.

The CC Wifi prices are not too expensive, ----------if it was allowing users to access a superfast Wifi system.

What we get for our money however on most CC sites can only be described as Dismal and Poor.

    Cheers ...........K

What I seem to get and a few others achieve seems very different K. Others say that it works fine for them too. As somebody who uses it happily, is away 120+ nights of the year and probably use some wifi on at least 70 of those nights it is excellent value
at around 36p for each day's actual usage.

Sorry K I must have misunderstood. I thought your philosophy was that the CC should get as much out of members as they can. Don't recall you saying they had to provide a premium product to do so, just one that is in demand. As ET says plenty of us find the
WiFi perfectly adequate and reasonable value for money. If they were only charging £25 a year for superfast unlimited WiFi as you suggest, now that certainly would be a bargain.

Write your comments here...Sorry Steve but I consider that the CC does provide a premium product. Their Insurance, Their breakdown service Their Travel service and their Camping sites.  Yes we pay a premium price for quality.  Obviously you have a different
opinion.  The Wifi offering by Air Angel is IMO  not universally consistent throughout the network and therefore is not up to CC standards.

I only ever use the free access to the CC when on site, I have never and will never pay for what Air Angel has to offer. I find alternative web access when on holiday much more reliable and cost effective.

That might be your problem with wifi performance then. I use several other forums. I view many sites. Guess what? The only site that is typically slow to respond or hangs is the Caravan Club website. Difficult to assess the quality of the wifi based on that.

If that is your only usage of Wifi provided by the club you would not be in a position to know how the paid for wifi performs on other sites as the Club site can be dire even though the booking aspect has always appeared less so.

As mentioned in other threads on cc wifi, it can only be as good as the closeness of a decent BT line to carry the internet, and as is in the news almost on a daily basis,  there are many areas in the uk that are struggling to obtain any speeds that are
anywhere near what most urban areas have,

Like K I just log on to the CC on sites. The coverage is very variable but as I understand it this is not the fault of the club or Air Angel. Basically the problem is usually the remote locations of sites and the internet provision of Openreach. I was told
that on many sites the service available to the club is simply not good enough to provide the consistant fast internet we need and when you have youngsters on sites trying to download then the whole thing fails.

This did seem to have some basis on one site as on a Thursday when the site was not full the service worked passably but come Friday evening it stopped altogether.

Possibly the club should publish the internet service strength available for different sites as part of the handbook  and on their web pages information so people did not waste money when on the sites with poor internet.

    It is of course available
    here
for checking prior to booking. However, I agree it would be sensible to put it on the the site information page, but probably not the handbook as strength can increase as BT rolls out infinity and could be soon out of date.

...We are on "infinity" at home and the speeds although a bit faster than previose they are right at the bottom end off what they say is available,it  still all depends, according to an open reach engineer how far you are away from a box that is connected
    to fibre optic cable

There it is clearly listed what quality of Wifi  is expected on different sites.  They are listed under Gold, Silver, and Bronze Wifi categories. Ranging from good to poor.

    An observation :-

What is strangely missing is a price differential for use at each of those sites.  If say £2.50 is the daily charge for Wifi on one of the good Gold sites, then surely there should be a price reduction for anyone trying desperately to get Wifi on a Bronze
    site.

Or have I missed it somewhere ?.Innocent

Yes, what you have missed is whatever way you to choose to connect all comapnies charge certain rates, not just the CC. I would love it if I could get a cheaper rate for slow broadband in our area!

Write your comments here...The cost to install the equipment and maintain it is the same for gold silver or bronze and teh cost fo the line from BT would be roughly the same as to make no difference in cost.

Personally I think £25 for a year is reasonable if you use club sites often.  I could be made free say from the information hut for poeple to stay in touch with email etc. like some othe sites do.

Sometimes certain parts of some CC sites are slightly better for reception so it's worth asking if it's important for your needs.

I would imagine most sites have to accept what is locally available, like 'Commons Wood' which seemed to have a high contention ratio and a low bandwith. During the day it fairy galloped along, but come evening and with the site filling up the signal strength
was still good but boy did it crawl as everyone tried to grab a bite of the limited sized cake.

...We live near Commons Wood, and are on what is laughingly called "infinity" by BT and its now 1630 and its getting slower by the minute as more people come home from work and joinall the kids doing their homework and staff at Tescos HQ and other big companies
on the industrial estates get ready for home and finish the days "work"  or do their Xmas shopping when boss has "gone to a meeting"

I've stopped using the WiFi on CC sites as it is generally inferior to the signal I get on my mobile phone which I can use for accessing the Internet etc (or pair to my iPad or laptop) OK, I know that having sufficient data allowance is necessary if you go down this route but for me it is worth it. If the mobile signal is poor or non existent generally the CC WiFi is too. With 5G being rolled out next year phone internet speeds will increase. OK many sites will be outside 5G coverage but this is something that hopefully will be addressed by the government, but don't hold your breath! Not sure the CC club should be spending vast sums on providing WiFi if technology will move quickly to make their installations out of date.

At Ferry Meadows the phone signal was non existent on Three so had to use the club WiFi which was OK but accept in rural areas the broadband speed to site may be slow.  Also a lot of sites are in rural areas so mobile coverage will not be good either and cost prohibitive for all operators to put up a mast for say 100 users.  What needs to be done is the roaming option so your phone picks up the best signal from what ever operator like you get abroad.

One problem with free WiFi is that people use it to watch films etc. so the service suffers considerably. By charging you make people more selective and this results in a faster speed for all users.

camping and caravan club don't charge for Wfi.

They give you the code on arrival and that's it every time you visit that site.

Same on the private York caravan park get the code no problem.

I have tried angel very poor on some sites cannot use two devices together, whats that about not good will never pay again.

One from the past. I can never find anything when I search on CT.😉

That's the advantage norm. If you don't think it worth it you don't have to subscribe. The cost of so called free WiFi has to be covered somewhere, so everyone pays wether they want it or not. Works for me.

I subscribe, by the way, and think it good value. Just to put another point of view.😀

Oh, you can use it without charge for posting on CT. Even two devices at the same time.😂

The Camping Club DO charge for wifi, any that don't is unusual in my experience.

I've tried both clubs wifi and choose to stick to smart phone and mobile data now as we have plenty to use up..

I think that's where some confusion comes in due to franchised C&CC sites. The one we used at Bellingham last year offered free wi-fi. So check out the list on the link.
