Hi,

Question as title : I am trying to find a firm who will insure a caravan while I stay in it during a contract. All the ones I've tried will only accept holiday use.

Anyone else been down this road and found an insurer happy to underwrite live-in use of a caravan ?

Thanks,

Boo

Rather a strange question to ask  , I'm sure you're aware that probably , at a guess 99.99% of members of this club use their Caravans / Motor Home for leisure purposes ,  as is the use of CC sites which do have time limited stays .

And as a matter of course the insurance cover members use reflects the fact that our units aren't in continuous  use.

Being a CC member , I'm sure you're aware of these site terms & conditions.

Boo perhaps it would be worth trying to attract Malcolms attention, in the what I did at work today, general chat. He lives in his caravan year round.

    Informative –Yes!

    Harsh – Most definitely!!

As OP did not indicate where he/she intends to site the van.

    Here are some thoughts:

Will you actually be working in the Caravan?

    Or

Will you be leaving the caravan and going off to do your shift then returning to it during your free leisure time before returning to work again?.

Will this be a temporary or permanent arrangement?

Depending on the answers to these questions, I think you would be legitimately covered by any insurance that indicates ‘use for leisure purposes’.

Pretty much my view as well. When I was much younger I occasionally took the family away even though I might be working part of the time.  It was not a place of my work but a place of my liesure.

It is very unlikely in any event that it would be a problem unless you make it one.

Might be worth asking a warden if they can help.
