February Crossword

I spent a few minutes completing the rather simple crossword in this months CC magazine, and was a bit surprised at clue 6 across, 'Hell's Angel rider'.

The apparent answer being 'Biker'.

I'm posting this with my tongue in cheek, but feel sure that if members of other minorities groups, interests or persuasions had been labelled in a similar fashion, offence might have been taken.

Just saying ...

Our magazine only arrived this morning. If you are doing the crossword already you must be keen.

Interesting that a blackcurrant has now become a summer 'berry'.  Happy

Write your comments here...I am the same with  27 down, and given up. I have the first letter a A, third as L and fifth as D.  Pilgrimphil, are you the same?

I'd say it should be enabled to be correct but that wouldn't fit. Happy

Write your comments here...Ahh, thank you Jill, it's a good job some of us are brainy. this has saved me having to wait a month for the answer as I had given up. I assumed weedkiller must have beeen wrong and started looking for chemical compound names. I'll go and stand in the corner for ten minutes.  Sad

I got 'abled' OK, as the only word that would fit, but agree with Jill that 'enabled' would be more apt. I just put it down to the generally poor standard of the crossword.

Must agree it is not a word I use but it is all that fits.

    Abled (adjective)

"Having a full range of physical or mental abilities; not disabled."

    Enable is a verb.

But, on a different point, I agree, having actually looked at the crossword, that "Abled" is not a satisfactory answer to the clue.

But enabled would be. If you ever tried to write a crossword you'll know that sometimes compromises have to be made. But the error was in the clue.
