Did anyone really not get the booking they wanted?

With all of the discussions regarding the 'booking frenzy' how many members are actually disappointed at not getting a booking they really wanted? Is it all just talk about not getting holidays? If unable to book where are the sites and which times of year
were  not available for you?

I wanted certain dates at Cherry Hinton, so I could attend the Cambridge Folk Festival, managed to get in last year and had a brilliant time.......so yes I really didn't get what I wanted.

i logged in at 8am and couldn't get onto the system until 9am

Sorry to her that Golfbandit. Maybe we could use this posting in a positive way and someone might suggest local alternative sites for disappointed members.

The C&CC site at Cambridge? Many years ago it was our first C&CC site when we got the MH. Do the C&CC accept non members bookings if you are not a member, or is it a case of the savings on fees make it worth joining for the duration of the festival?

Phone and speak to  Beverley at Highfield Farm at Comberton. There will be room there as she charges a £25 non returnable deposit.

I got the sites that I wanted. Never expected that it would be otherwise. Of course as Golfbandit shows there can always be an event that one is not aware of that takes up site pitches. I have come across that most years on one site or another. I have booked
early on and not beem affected though on those occasions

We wanted 2 weeks in July at Hillhead which we got but we couldn't get a serviced pitch as they were full at weekends so we had to get a standard pitch instead. Not a big issue but we preder serviced pitches at Hillhead

...Sorry to hear that ,it is the ideal site for the Festival as you can walk to it,but if as some promote a rolling 12 month system the site would be booked up after the previose years festival

I wanted one of May  bank hols at Rowntree, I logged on at 8.35. It was booked, so I booked something else, southport, then booked Rowntree for another weekend. Win win.  I all fairness there wasn't too much of a wait this year To get through to booking
    section

The booking system is totally unfair.  I didn't get the booking, down to issues with my profile when our membership was renewed - not our fault!  A better system would be to ask for deposits so people don't book and cancel.

Yes DEBSC, I didn't get the only booking I was after. Tried at tea break 10.00am, but it was all gone. Not upset about it even though it's the second year I've failed to get it. Totally understand why.

Stonehaven at Hogmanay has the fireball procession and a street party ( sometimes I think ). So very very popular and it's not a big site either.

I'll maybe try at 8.00am next year.

Would the issues with your profile have been resolved by the taking of deposits?

I'm sorry you didn't get what you wanted but I think your unfortunate experience is colouring your view of the system.

Have you spoken to anyone in an effort to resolve your issues?

Just because you had a technical problem does not make the booking unfair. Just makes you unfortunate. Did you try using the phone line?

If you would prefer a system that takes deposits you could try booking with the other club as I believe that they do charge a booking deposit. As far as I am aware there are no plans for the CC to reinstate deposits. It is the lack of deposit the myself and many members cherish.

The 1st might suit me slightly better as not at work.

However, it is the day after Hogmanay, when I am usually hitched as a newt

I logged on at 10am and got all my bookings done with no problem at all.

The only slight issue I had was that one of my first choice sites (in Yorkshire) was showing as fully booked for my chosen week in July.

No problem though as there was availability on a site just 20 miles away.  I suspect this was more due to so many northern sites being out of action for refurbishment this summer rather than the booking system.

The club's booking system works fine for me and I wouldn't want it changed.

Edit .....just checked, the chosen site isn't open until 2nd week of July.
