Anybody managed to book a site yet?

Just go timed out trying to book. Clicking the Book Now button only to be told Booking not yet made.
Never mind went onto C&CC site and booked on their Cambridge site instead of Cherry Hinton. Nice and easy how a professional site should be run

just checked my home email and the booking confirmation came through a few minutes after the booking.

It was slow first off this morning 8.30am , but booking are going straight through now

I booked time off work this morning, logged on at 7am as recommended, tried to book at 8am, but was not given access until 8.20am. During this 20 minute period I was also trying to make a booking by phone. I got through by phone at the same time as on
the Internet. The main booking I wanted was not available, but my second request was OK. I wanted to book more sites but as they weren't at peak times I thought I would give someone else a chance and try later in the day. I have now gone onto the website to find that
there is only ONE weekend available at York Rowntree Park for the whole of 2017, and that is 22nd December 2017.This has to be people block booking, as this year we managed to book two weekends at relatively short notice.
The penalty for late cancellation is not enough, as it means that people can cancel up to noon on Tuesday for a weekend stay. For those of us who work full time and need to plan ahead, this cancellation is too late.
This whole system needs to be re-thought.

Managed to book 4 sites at around 9.30 this morning. Just kept clicking on the easy booking, you have to wait a bit but it was ok. To be fair it must be hard for the system to cope with so many members trying all at once.

Write your comments here...what eveidence do you have of people block booking? It is more likely a lot of people booking weekends at a very popular site....

I agree that it needs to be re-thought although it won't help with some people trying to book online and on the phone at the same time.
Rowntree Park seems to be the main issue and, as someone said, it is perhaps caused by block booking although they presumably have to make one booking and then start again for the next one. Does the CC know the instances of the number of people who have
made lots of weekend bookings at one site?I agree that the answer either has to be a more effective late cancellation fee or charging up front. The latter might stop people from making lots of bookings knowing they can cancell later.

I am getting increasingly disappointed at certain members total lack of empathy for fellow members frustration at the clearly unfair booking system.
The positive comments no doubt come from those who were successful in their bookings and have no compassion for those left disappointed by the system? Or by those who are or have been employees?
And to the members who say there is no abuse of this system - you have obviously never checked for spaces in the couple of weeks before the date required and after a reminder has been sent out? Or for that matter been on a site which though 'full' has a
number of spaces? The facts speak for themselves.0 -

Write your comments here... York & sites like Chatsworth book up really quickly , with over 300,000 members chasing the limited pitches especially at popular times of year & weekends, it's going to happen , we all get disappointed now & again as for block bookers .....it's a myth........

Lots of single green star posters appearing in this thread. If you are a first time poster, welcome and hope you will continue to post.

Maybe that shows their depth of feeling as they are not normally those who are constantly airing their views.

I doubt that any individual managed to book more than 2 or 3 weekends at Rowntrees.
Firstly, I am happy with what I booked but I am retired and don't need weekends, school hols etc.
It seems to me, however, that it's a question of fairness, particularly at the popular sites such as Rowntree and Chatsworth. Someone asked what evidence there was of block booking but you only have to read this thread to see where people tell us they have
block booked. All those complaining are not whingeing, they are simply making a very valid point about the unfairness of the (lack of) a queuing system. In the absence of a better queuing system, if only one booking could be made at any one site for an initial period,
that might reduce the unfairness of the random system of allocating time slots. Wouldn't we all complain if, when in a 'snake' queue at a bank, people were selected at random to come forward?0 -

All those that whinge about what they could not get I expect had the similar opportunity to those that did get. Simply the luck of the draw. I fail to see
that it is unfair to those that were able to attempt to book. I personally was never going to be dissapointed I admit as there are no sites that I want that were likely to be a problem. For those able to take part in grabbing a finite resource the system was
even handed. As for block booking many weekends at a honeypot site how the hell could any manage that?
As for people cancelling before before they are due to go does anybody seriously expect that a member wishing to go to a honeypot site at a weekend would cancel without a good reason and reluctantly knowing that they might not be able to get the same fortune
next year?0 -

next year?I was at Rowntree Park this year - having booked late when vacancies came up and there were at least five empty pitches despite a full sign!!

I got one of the ones I wanted out of two so 50 percent success however it took me 1he and 15 minutes of constant pressing and being frozen out twice half way through the booking procedure. I think there must be a fairer and easier system, I like the other
clubs way, not saying its perfect but got to be better than this. I'm not angry at the club, it is what it is angry at myself for getting drawn into such a situation, over an hour of my life gone, never again.......until next year of course!0 -
The only site that I thought I might have had a problem at was Southport as I know that certain dates do get booked up. For anybody going 13th to 18th of May I appologise. We normally go to Southport mid December for 15 nights but on a couple of occasions
we have decided to call in on the way back from a tour for 4 or 5 nights. Each time it has rained most of the time and hence my appologies.0 -

But I do wish that it could start at a time when it was more likely that the working members would be available to give them a fair crack of the whip although I know that some will not be available whatever time is chosen. To
my mind starting on a Sunday morning would be fairer.0 -
Perhaps the more popular sites like Rowntree Park should be min. three nights at weekends
Oh dear somebody with common sense!
As it happens I managed to get Rowntree Park, Southport and Hawes when I wanted. However I know Southport was booked up for airshow quite early as one guy informed me at dinner. I always go the airshow but on Victoria Park with south lancs.

able to get the same fortune next year? The limit is 21 consecutive nights stay, so the first booking you make is for 21 nights on frenzy day you bokk 21 nights that incorporates bank holiday weekends, school holidays that are first on your list. Then try again ad infinitum spread across a different
time of the year. After the frenzy has died down and you have confirmed bookings, you amend them to release the midweek days you don't want to. If done outwith the 72 hours no one will be any the wiserHaving seen the frenzy on a country house CC site with members racing past the queue to the entrance before the 12:00 access time, running into the site reception then almost dragging the passenger along with the car door open to reach a particular pitch,
nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to peoples behaviour in this day and age. I was gobsmacked watching that unfold before my eyes.A system that encourages such behaviours is far from fair

I agree that a fairer time could be used,I was fortunate to be able to create time in my working day but others are not so fortunate. Maybe a system allowing only one booking at a so called honeypot site on opening day would be fairer or at least seem fairer.

Nice try. However when you edit your three week booking you only come away with one weekend. If you do edit it It is likely that the remaining weekends will be taken up as for some reason the site is popular
