Against the working man

I can't quite take the OP entirely seriously! Yes, you're working, but surely it's possible to organise weekend trips within a couple hours of home so you arrive at a suitable time? All us retirees have been working folk ourselves you know. We've all had
to plan accordingly. Or, of course, you could try to find a CL which might be willing to let you arrive later. There are always solutions to any problem in life; you just have to adapt and look out for them!

Seems to me you selfishly want things your way and attacking the retirees or people who do not have to work. Why not actively look for change that might result in a better way for all concerned, rather than 'them and me'.
Your original post is what raises shackles.

Don't need to pander to my needs , I'm happy in a truck stop if I have to doesn't bother me one bit although for my membership fee which I pay yearly , like yourselves and probably more if they have oap rates , I would've thought there would have been more
provision for the working man .0 -
Haggis..you sound really angry about this, and I hope you find a way around this issue. As Moulesy said, maybe a CL would offer more flexibility? Personally I believe 8pm is late enough to arrive on site..not only for the Wardens who already work long hours,
but for the peace and relaxation for others already on site, who don't really want to be disturbed by arrivals late into the evening. Most sites we've stayed on don't have large LNA's to accommodate planned lateness.0 -
jood , wouldn't say angry , I'd say frustrated by the lack of provision for people who still work and want to get away for a weekend . I've rang the particular site I wanted to stay at , basically they said no chance unless you've had an unforeseen problem
, rang head office , apologetic but again same answer .. therefore my conclusion must be there is little thought for those of us that have to work and enjoy and look forward to our weekends away .. I would also say that the site I wanted to be at will be nowhere
near fully booked for a midweek and a winter booking0 -
I'm confused.
Are you travelling at the start of a longer trip, so this is just a stopover? Or are you going to this site for the weekend?
If the former, why not choose a site you can reach before 8pm, if it is not possible to leave earlier?

Like shops, restaurants, cinemas, cafes, museums, libraries etc, etc, all sites have stipulated closing times. Where do you draw the line? How many staff do you need to employ to cover all eventualities, at all hours? If these issues are surmountable, how
does this impact on site fees.0 -
We just need to be more flexible with the booking in process. We could have a system where we pay in advance on line. If you plan to arrive after 8pm the warden could pin a list of expected late arrivals on a notice board with allocated pitch numbers. Any
gate pass code could be given when payment is made. We could see the warden in the morning. Many none cc sites have this kind of system.0 -
Moulsey , I need to be further than two hours and I'm in Lincoln
Well obviously it's your choice, but if you only have a weekend why do you want to spend so much of it travelling, particularly on a Friday night?
Lincoln's a bit out of our area but surely there must be a lot of scope over in that part of the world. Is North Norfolk reachable in 2 hours? Loads of really good CLs and CSs in the Fakenham area who would probably welcome your custom.

Whereabouts? Maybe we can help you out with an alternative site? There's a wealth of knowledge on here, you know!
There are several of us from this beautiful part of the country and close by. Afterall, many of us have been in this situation, 'survived' the compromises and enjoyed our pastime immensely! Can we be of any help?

Haggis, when you asked if you could use a LNA pitch, did you adopt the same tone as in many of your posts in this thread?
One thing I've learnt in life is that anger and shouting rarely achieves the desired result.
Another thing I've found is that joining a large organisation, accepting the rules and conditions and then expecting it all to change to suit my individual needs is a non starter.
May I suggest you use a site other than a club site, or travel a shorter distance, or arrange your working life so that you can leave earlier?
