    Hi Everyone,

As Brue says the prices for 2017 are now available to view online and pleased to say a lot of them have been frozen at 2016 prices. Take a look here http://bit.ly/2g9gemV.

just looked at my favourite site (Melrose) the increase in peak appears about 20p for pitch and 20p for an adult. Looks like 40p increase out of peak.

    Well done CC.

Google maps, other applications are available, has a facility to input 'nearby' terms such as 'caravan site', 'campsite', 'Caravan Club Site' etc. I found this when looking at an area for a family gathering that wasn't familiar.

Have been using this function ever since to plan holidays and found some lovely sites including but not limited to full CC, CL and commercial sites.

The overlay map here https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=17Ig4IykjXaE6lRoLLMJ1ek8ebz0&ll=54.15272145019109,-1.8277672000000393&z=6 DaveFL (think thats right) has produced for CL's is another excellent resource.

OFF TOPIC I KNOW but may be of interest you can also search google maps for supermarkets & service stations etc near - then insert town name.

What do the January to March dates mean. Are they 2017 or 2018. If they are 2017 it means the pitch we booked at Chatsworth has increased by 30p a night. Nothing I hear you say, however anyone with two children  who has booked Feb half term, would be charged
another £1.98 a night, as the child cost has gone from 1p to £1. Or do you pay the price you booked at  rather than the price on the day?

I see they have got creative with summer peak again at some sites. There may be others, but Berwick and Old Hartley have adopted Scotlands summer holiday period. This results in summer peak being 2 weeks longer than last year. So, if I have done my maths correctly, a couple will pay £3.90 more a night at B and £5.40 at OH, than last year, 17% and 25% respectively.

Edit just checked, River Breamish as well.

I'm a bit puzzled by the following footnote on the page about price freeze:

Price freeze applies to Club Sites only and excludes Affiliated Sites and Certificated Locations. Excludes Abbey Wood, Burrs Country Park and Meathop Fell between 4 Jan – 16 Mar 2017. Availability is on a first come, first serve basis.

I understand the first bit about it only applying to Club Sites etc. I also understand it excludes 3 sites between 4 Jan-16 Mar (as in the detail is in the small print!), but it's the last bit which says that availability is on a first come, first serve
    basis.

Is the offer not quite what it seems?  Are there only a certain number of pitches where the price is frozen?  It reads that way to me.

Yell this really annoys me steveL, they did something similar this year. They explanation was it was because of the Scottish school holidays, but
they didn't drop them in Scotland when the schools went back, claiming it was because of the English school holidays. Seems they do want their cake and eat it when it comes to school holidays. It won't impact on us but it will on many others.

Couldn't get in to Edit my last post so will have to post again.

Just had a quick look at the prices it would appear that other than the non facility sites the least we can expect is £20 rising to just over £30 per night for 2 adults and a pitch.

Agreed, very annoying. It means any price rises are totally hidden and applicable only to the individual, depending on what time they holiday. Rather than these sneaky changes and holding some sites at last years prices, an across the board increase of what
ever is required would be a lot easier to understand.

Some time in February we're lead to believe. It's going to be later than normal as there are going to be some changes to it, or so Rochelle said a short while ago.

I've just done a quick check on the CC bookings that we made this year, compared to next year:

    Broadway in June: £24.80 / £25.70 = 3.6% increase

    Broadway in November £19.07 / £19.80 = 3.8% increase

    Rowntree in August £31.50 / £32.30 =2.5% increase

    Rowntree in December £19.60 / £20.90 = 6.6% increase

    All based on two adults.

    That's a rough average of 4.1%

About four times the rate of inflation, so hardly 'frozen' I would say.

Needless to say, we will be booking even less with them next year.

The figures show that the increases vary from site to site and are clearly based on increased costs as incurred. The clubs costs do not neccessarily increase at the same rate as inflation. It is anticipated inflation rates will increase this year and in
fact on some estimates these increases reflect this.

Unless you also check price increases for alternative sites and compare just quoting the clubs figures is meaningless and proves nothing. You may actually find the alternatives are increasing prices by more than the club and going elsewhere would cost you
more. It might not be more expensive but you simply do not know without the information but given the occupancy level at most of the sites listed then it will not affect them as there are plenty more who will take the bookings. Given these sites are almost
always full you could say the club is underpricing these sites.

I would expect that Club sites would experience a lower increase than standard inflation, through judicious spending and central buying.

In any event, businesses simply cannot increase their prices however they like, to reflect increased costs resulting from poor management.

Well, I should correct that and say that they can increase prices however much they like, but will lose business to their competitors.

To demonstrate my point.....Broadway site was at least half empty for 5 days a week when we were there recently.

I stand by my prediction that the CC will no longer be running caravan sites in about 10 years time, because they aren't really commercial enough to compete and will have to hand over the sites to commercial organisations.

saying that a site is half empty in November really proves nothing. Are the sites around it full?
