Just book what you want with the Club, as soon as you can. If later on you identify somewhere in the same area, cheaper or more desirable, then the Club's booking system allows you to cancel without incurring a penalty, right up to a few days before your
booked stay. Be aware though, that this arrangement may not be the same for Affiliated Sites, so read the small print. Not sure if you mean St Ives in Cambridgeshire, or St Ives in Cornwall. If the latter, there are dozens of sites to choose from in the area.0 -
If it bothers you that much why bother waiting for the Club to open its booking. Book elsewhere.

Doesn't really help when you've limited funds trying to work out which is the best option for your family
But there are plenty of options, many cheaper than Club sites, CLs as already mentioned for instance and if you are a member of the C&CC, THS are very good value.

We're at Oxon Hall Touring Park ( Morris Leisure) near Shrewsbury. We're on a 'Service' pitch and the deal is '3 nights for the price of 2' so it's costing us £53 which works out at £17.60 a night. Incidentally, we're a few minutes walk from the Oxon park and ride where we can catch a bus to town for 80p return using our OAP bus passes!
On Friday we're moving on to the Morris site at Ludlow where we'll be paying £44 for three nights under the same deal for a standard pitch. After that we go to Broadway for two nights for £37.80, and then to Warwick Racecourse paying £45.60 for 3 nights. The latter is the most basic in terms of facilities but we like it, and it'll be the 'Victorian Xmas Evening' in the town on the 24th.

Chas, looks like we'll just miss you at Broadway as we are there on Thursday 24th....
all the best to you and Cath..

Hi everyone,
We'll be releasing the prices for 2017 on Monday 21st November - so you'll have plenty of time to plan your holidays before sites are released on 7th Dec.

A lot of working people can't book til the New Year when 2017 holiday schedules go out so at least the OP might have a head start on some.
We can't get our holidays from work confirmed until the new year, so can't start booking until then.

My holiday year has always run April to March, but so was OH's. Our son has January to December but his partners is April so that causes real fun!!!
I really do not understand the Club's bizarre attitude to booking sites. Airlines are up to 11 months in advance, cruise's appear to be two years in advance, package tours, hotels etc are quite happy to take your booking, most with a deposit granted. To
learn, as i think i have from this thread, that on THE DAY for booking it the price youll be expected to pay may not even be known!!!!0 -
I am not concerbed about prices but the map might have been welcome. I am using the 2012/2014 map for planning. The 2014/2016 was rubbish to try and read in my opinion.
Me too, both the 2013/2014 & 2015/2016 maps fell to pieces in no time at all.

We never use it. We know where most sites are and tend to use ones we like again. When we want to visit somewhere new we tend just to go on the map search on the web site.

we find it useful for planning a string of site stop offs on a tour. We can both view it, stick coloured markers on chosen sites. We try to include sites that we have not visited or have not visited for a long time. Getting less easy to do the former
We normally take four or five sessions over over about 10 days to plan the tours.

...but any 'tour' i put together wouldnt have all the sites on one map....certainly, we wouldnt exclusively use CC sites.
i would need those from CCC as well.
commercials dont have 'maps' as such, and THS sites pop up and are open only for certain dates.
i find my up to date sat nav map, with POI of CL, CS, CC/CCC sites, along with a large tranche of commercials from the CCC big book, is useful as this puts them all in one place.
similarly, pitchup website can provide a broad overview that is supplier independent.
so, i never use the CC map, you can have mine too, Alan

Google maps, other applications are available, has a facility to input 'nearby' terms such as 'caravan site', 'campsite', 'Caravan Club Site' etc. I found this when looking at an area for a family gathering that wasn't familiar.
Have been using this function ever since to plan holidays and found some lovely sites including but not limited to full CC, CL and commercial sites.
The overlay map here https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=17Ig4IykjXaE6lRoLLMJ1ek8ebz0&ll=54.15272145019109,-1.8277672000000393&z=6 DaveFL (think thats right) has produced for CL's is another excellent resource.

Have just tried this one and it appears to only show CL's sites with Serviced pitches.

Too many sheets of paper for a circular tour from Chester to Dunnets Bay for example
Two sheets of A4 would do it but then you would lose the computers ability to zoom in and out and get down to the nitty grity of the detail of what is around the sites.

An excellent resource it is too, if only CL's with Serviced Pitches. Where the owners have websites it gives links to those too. Makes tour planning easier and DaveFL2 is to be congratulated for his efforts for members even if it only gives limited CL choice
of Seviced pitches that are ideal for us. Leave the aquaroll and waste container at homeMakes you wonder why CC Ltd can't provide similar resource for members.
