Hi, We were lucky enough to get Glastonbury tickets but failed to get campervan tickets today. Are there any local Caravan club sites (larger sites or CLs) within striking distance of the festival, preferably with some transport available/walking distance? If anyone can share their experiences or offer advice to enable us to have an enjoyable trip to the festival (Wed, leaving Monday morning) it will be much appreciated. Feeling stressed about this (almost 800 mile round trip as it is!) as we do not want to camp in our tent on the festival site. Been there, done that, too old and getting soft..etc.

Sorry can't help but very jealous! I do hope someone, I'm sure there will be someone, can help. Try not to stress about it too just yet - you've months to plan and sort. Out of interest have you googled campsites for the area? I'm sure there will be some
    and an enterprising field owner.

Most sites will be booking up and so I would not hang around. I suspect that if you leave it much longer you will be struggling

Walking distance is very limited due to security controls, you might have to brave the tent once more. It's certainly very difficult to get a car through the area when the festival is in full swing.

Years ago (and I mean a lot of years ago) we went to a festival - and stayed within walking distance in a B and B which we booked at the same time as we bought the tickets.  Few others were doing the same, so we had a great time and could stroll in, after
a good breakfast, just when we wanted.

I'm not sure how possible this is, these days, but something to think about perhaps.

There's so much involved with the festival, weeks of setting up and taking down, it's a very busy area accommodation wise. I expect there are sites for the van a few miles away, not sure how far the OP would want to travel. My son drove in from near Frome
each day last year (involved in radio work so had access.)

We stayed at the following site a couple of years ago which would be in walking distance of the festival..about a mile away. Might already be fully booked for the festival dates but maybe worth a try. http://www.ashcombefarmcaravanandcamping.co.uk/

You could try the Pop-Up Motel.  It has caravan / motorhome pitches and it's within walking distance (10 / 15 minutes to gate D).  It's more than a campsite and has a good food and bar offering and a really nice atmosphere. http://www.thepopupmotel.com/glastonbury

Just looked this up £379 for caravan pitch and an extra £159 for hookup.  I had no idea it was so expensive to go to Glastonbury.  Surprised

Can't help with Glastonbury, other than to wish you good luck.  We've decided to take the MH to the Isle of Wight Festival this year instead of camping in the pre-erected tents, as we have done in previous years.  Got the tickets, got the campervan pass,
only to find that Red Funnel haven't released space for "over height" vehicles yet, so I've got to try their web site everyday incase they are open for sale. RF can't say when this will be, just that it will be soon.

Yep,  if they don't go live over the weekend it's Lymington/Yarmouth, Soton/Cowes is just more convenient at each end.
