We are looking at spending 3/4 nights there next year, prior to catching a ferry at Portsmouth. As we will be using a night ferry I was going to pay for an extra night, so we could leave late on. However, I note earliest arrivals are 13:00. Although it does
not mention a narrow approch and even says you can request to stay after 12:00. Street view only shows the entrance which looks OK. Can anyone advise on what the rest of the approach is like for passing. Given that when we are proposing to leave we could well
meet arrivals off the ferries.

Not been for over 10 years but it used to be that at the top of the hill you could wait and see if anyone was coming up and the same the other way round. So two people driving sensibly it should not be an issue; unless it has all changed.

I suspect the problem might be the immediate exit from the site which is up a steepish incline with a twist it then levels out. There are places where you can pass so as Ocsid suggests its a case of taking it easy and be aware of oncoming units.

We have visited Rookesbury a few times. As has been said the final drive in to the site is down a narrowish lane but there are passing places and we have never had any bother

Steve, we stayed at the site last week after getting off the ferry at 6.30pm. The main road leading to the site for the last mile or so is manageable but twisty in places. Once you have turned into the site the approach road is about 400 yards long and there are one or two passing places should you meet anything. We arrived at dusk and didn't have a problem although the motorhome that was in front of us was very wary on the main road as his outfit was quite wide for that road. We have a narrow caravan but any normal caravan will find it perfectly driveable.

Been a couple of times had no problems! last occasion was this September.  There is a 10mph speed limit but not many stick to it!  There are also ferry pitches opposite the reception building.

Been there many times, brilliant site, no problems at all. Hundreds of caravans use it every year. A lot of fuss about nothing.

I don't see how a perfectly reasonable question should become a "fuss" good planning makes for good arrivals etc.

Thanks  Pippah, I agree, planning was what I was aiming for. My question was only asked because the club have seen fit to make this an earliest arrivals 1pm site. When they do this there is usually a problem, as at Chatsworth with its narrow approach.
