2 Cars on a Pitch Whats the Problem ?

Oh come on! Don't spoil the thread with squabbling. Will the OP please keep us informed of the ongoing situation. I'm absolutely intrigued. This is way better than The Archers. I hardly ever come on this forum but it's great! I can see I've been missing
so much fun.One thing - if both cars are needed then both must leave site at some time. How do you get both cars back in past the barrier?
well it's not that difficult, you go through one at a time, someone takes the keything back to the one behind, or someone stands with the key entry card by the bollard.
You could not do that at one site we stopped at in Holland, unless you used said card to go out again. We know this because someone was having a problem with their card, I think because it had already been used, and the car behind helpfully used their card,
and then also could not get in. Warden called and explained it to everyone. One car only allowed, that is why the system was set up that way. Not sure if the CC card systems are that sophisticated.know what you mean ours at work does just that, but the club ones I've used just open the barrier.

I would suggest that there is nothing wrong with having a "caravan" and one car on the pitch. Be it a towed caravan or a motorcaravan. They both take up the same space.
Why all the animosity against Motorcaravans.??.
Oddly enough, I kind of agree with you K (no, really! ). It works both ways though, there is often considerable animosity in both directions, through ill considered or unclear posting. In this case the perception was clearly the difference in MHers being able to drive on and off site and back to their pitch at will, whereas all vanners were expected to take their tow cars to the car park - hardly a practical plan on any site that I've come across.
As I said earlier or possibly on another thread, it barely regsiters with us what sort of unit is next to us on site or whether they have one or two cars on their pitch. It's really not what we go on holiday to worry about!
exactly that M, nothing more. Like you I don't care what outfit is next to me, I just expect everyone to be treated equally.
I don't expect to be told to walk to the car park on the grounds of safety (because I have a caravan) then the same poster says its ok for his daughter to drive their extra car to the pitch, its either safe or not. Just because its your children shouldn't come into it.

Unless I have missed it I am not sure whether the OP has mentioned whether he is also using an awning which obviously might make a difference to the space available for two cars. The OP does have to have a quiet and calm discussion with the warden who may
have good reasons for a change of mind. For example has he had a complaint of noise from early/late departure/arrival or something similar? If any member has a complaint against a wardens decision it won't be resolved here. That has to be done face to face
or via an e-mail to HQ.David

FYI, my daughter was 8+ months pregnant and wouldnt have appreciated the long walk or your skewed viewpoint....
still, im sure its the sort of thing my SIL would love to debate with you.
one habitation unit (caravan or MH) and one car, the same thing, the same space....others seem to have realised this apart from you
what nonsense BB, and oh others apart from the club you mean?

Update just paid £2 per night for my second car which is now on the pitch and it fits , I asked the warden his reason for not allowing it and he did not have an answer just said I'm the warden , thank god there change the wardens yearly well it seems like there do it here , sorry not good enough has I have been coming to this site for over 10 years and never had a problem here or at any other site , I've reported him to hq and he said the same, let's see what happens I'm not letting this go and by the way I have nothing against motorhomes with cars , just people trying to enforce there rules and not the club's . At the end of the day we pay there wages

Is it not incredible that a member can have such jaundiced feelings about motorhomes, that they cannot see that a motorhome and one car is no different to a caravan and one car.
To suggest that the car owner should walk from the car park, because they already have a motorhome on site (and that counts as the one motor vehicle allowed) is getting beyond pathetic......even putting aside that they were 8 months pregnant.
Corners......shame on you!

I know, how much 'shame' can there be?

In answer to the original question......you shouldn't be allowed two cars on your pitch because it's over-crowding and looks a mess.
If you must have two cars with you (and most don't, really) then park one elsewhere.
Don't make your problem into everyone else's problem.
Regarding the m/h user with the trailer, motorbike etc......no, he shouldn't have been allowed all that either.
in answer to your post Ian, the above is what you posted on page three on this thread, the problem is (as you call it), that the OP wife is a registered disabled person. So an 8 month old pregrent woman who I assue is fit and healthy can't walk from a car park (I've had four kids and my wife seemed to manage walking till they were born) but you want a disabled person to walk from the car park?
BTW calling calling a disabled person a problem, how considerate of you, really shows you up in a caring light doesn't it?
Who has the greater shame?

When we had the RV we always had a car as well, and with the caravan we often take a second car. If possible we have it on the pitch. It doesn’t make the pitch any more cluttered or messy than a lot of the paraphernalia others have like chairs and tables,
satellite dishes, clothes lines etc. They choose to use their space one way and we choose to use ours another. Some sites - like Chatsworth - make us put one car in the car park. When we went to get it out other cars had parked so close OH had to climb in through the boot so we definitely prefer to have it on pitch and be able to use it for storage as well.

Still can't, apparantly.
And instead tries to twist my comment into some sort of 'anti-disabled' remark.
Quite shameful.

Banff, whatever the merits of other people's arguments, that was offensive. I have reported your post.

Slightly different view point for me. I don't mind how many "things" fill a pitch provided they are all contained within the boundries of the pitch. I would however like to see the introduction of a charge for visitors. Clumber Park being a good example
where some vans had 7 or 8 visitors and one had a 21st Birthday Party in the awning with around 20 guests. This causes disturbance to other members and increases running costs to the club. The guests are using the toilet facilites and they leave behind a huge
amount of rubbish the club has to dispose of. So not only should we limit cars, should we limit the number of guests?0 -

I would agree - the one time we have had a real problem on a CC site was a couple who had set up on their pitch and every day a hoard of badly behaved grandchildren were dropped off to run riot. They arrived before 8 in the morning then some were still there at 9 at night - often joined in the evening by equally antisocial parents who - because they were visitors - wouldnt have paid a penny. The children spent time throwing gravel at cars, breaking fences and trees, turning on the waste water washing hose and soaking passersby before leaving taps running etc. They often arrived in PJ's and had their showers etc onsite and yet it was all free. An extreme example but it caused a lot of problems for many people and would have cost the club quite a lot.

due to some of the earlier postings....i was 'done' with this thread...
however.....
Banff, i dont get upset very often on this forum....
im happy to debate, banter, cajole, mix and match comments with posters, returning fire in the way its given.....often trying to inject a little humour, irony, hyperbole whatever....
however, you have hit below the belt, here....
you are insulting my daughter, her husband and my new grandchild...that is not on, in my book.
i have reported the post too (thanks TW)...
Decent folk never bring family members into the debate, that is not acceptable Banff. Good posts from BB & TW. +1 on the sentiments.
