Hi all

what is the problem having 2 cars on your pitch providing that is of course they fit on it ?

never had a problem on any site until coming to my local site that is Tredegar house cc site which i have been going to for 10 years usually i paid an extra £2 a night , i came in june this year and the warden moaned but let us have our 2 cars on the pitch , here now and he has changed is mind and says NO .

my wife is registed disabled and this site has no disabled parking spaces in the car park which they should have , also it is not secure .

i am sat here now looking across at a motorhome with a car and a box trailer and a motorbike on his pitch if he had a awning up would they get him to move something has thats more than 2 vehiches then ?

i believe it is just this warden trying to have a bit of  authority and being awkward hopefully he wont be here next season , some of them are just jobsworths

what next i cant take my 2 cats away !

OK so the million dollar question why do you need 2 cars, not moaning just interested?  Also where you park said 2 cars at home how are they secured as opposed to the site you are on or should the CC have car parks that are ringed by steel have 24*7 armed
    guards with dogs etc?

wife needs it for work we still use the van even when we work also i need a car for work some days when we both work  plus getting about , the issue is you can pay £2 on cc sites for a second car its just the warden is a jobsworth ,

why do you need a car when you have a motorhome thats 2 vehichles if you want to be picky

i own a fleet of cars lot of them are expensive high performance cars, which are either kept in an alarmed  garage or behind locked gates with cctv  also i very often bring them to site just for the fun of it  and for people to come and see

im not sure about the rules for multiple cars on a pitch, but the obvious answer (in the case of the warden saying no, and in the case of your wife's personal requirements) would be to have her car on the pitch and yours in the car park?

fair enough but lotsof motorhomes do tow . most people do not know that some  motorhomes have  a low towing capacity

we have used two cars on one pitch paying the supplement, as stated on the club rules (reason family staying, one of us at work)

    Supplements on Club managed sites

Second car or boat £2 per night

I would suggest you ask the warden why not when the price is clearly stated (see club sites, price quide). If you get no responce I would ask for his area manager and/or write/phone the club direct. there may be a fire rule but the warden should be able
    to tell you that.

Privided there is suffiecient room for 2 cars it should not be a problem, if you have and awning aswell though I can see where the warden is coming from.

Just to answer your other question "why does a M/H need a car"  well its personal preference. We sometimes while in the UK take a car on an A frame so that we can go further a feild sight seeing. When abroad we take our large scooter/trike on a trailer  for
the same purpose, so its possible you/others may see us on a club site with a M/H + car or M/H + scooter/trailer, as its allowed and we've never had a problem we will continue to do so.

I think if it were me I would go back to the warden and have another word with him/her in a calm voice and explain why you feel you need 2 cars on the pitch. Its not for me to pass judgement but if its your wife that is disabled then surley its only really
her that needs the car to be available on the pitch.

It's many years since we went to Tredegar House and I seem to remember that some of the pitches were quite small?

But provided your pitch is either long enough to have both cars parked on one side of the van or wide enough to have one one each side, I can see no justification for the warden not allowing it. If one of the cars had to be parked in front of the van I could
see a reason if it meant the car encroaching onto a site road.

Good advice above about asking the warden exactly what the reason is for his decision.

On the Ayr site earlier this month a lot of caravanners had two cars squeezed onto their pitch every which way, and it looked a mess with some encroaching onto the site road.

In June you say the Warden moaned but allowed it, what exactly did he say when he moaned? you must have accepted his reasoning  by way of a conversation.

Write your comments here...just that he dont want 2 cars on a pitch has they do not fit , i have proven to him that i can even get 2 4x4 along side my van without them being on the grass or over hanging the road ?

If i remember from last year Tredeger House has quite a large car park so do not understand the Disabled bay need, also quite a few pitches are "small"to enable two cars, security is also quite good as the NT access gates are locked at dusk? which you have
a key?,but as stated by others have you spoken to the staff about your concerns?

I don't like seeing more than one car on a pitch, clutters the place up.

why not park you wife's (disabled car) on the pitch and yours in the car park?

I must have missed a rule change that allows people to work somewhere while staying on a Caravan Club site.  When did that come about?

If you go out for the day, who knows what you get up to whilst out? One could be plying an illicit trade for all anyone knew.

Thats the best thing to do. After all, none of us know the warden's reasoning and can do no more than make educated guesses. You can't expect a definitive answer without getting it from the horse's mouth but you know that already.

On the sites near big towns or cities, there are quite often "workers" useing the sites for cheaper than other accomodation in the area,cc and ccc sites, there is a "fresh" fish van (from Hull/Grimsby) that uses our local site Mon-Fri and the c/van is in storage

Write your comments here...some of us do have to work !!!!! but to get use from our caravan will pitch it for a week and travel to work hence rtn to the  van also might only be  working for 3 or 4 days out of 7 not every one just goes away for weekends and
    clogs the system up

where does it say you can't go to work from a club site?

Way on the back of my mind from reading the Club Rules when I joined.

Had to be proposed and seconded then, you know!

In answer to the original question......you shouldn't be allowed two cars on your pitch because it's over-crowding and looks a mess.

If you must have two cars with you (and most don't, really) then park one elsewhere.

Don't make your problem into everyone else's problem.

Regarding the m/h user with the trailer, motorbike etc......no, he shouldn't have been allowed all that either.

Good one, mentions something about not working actually on the site doesn't it, even then doing office work inside your outfit and where people go in the morning would be difficult to police? Anyway there's the 21 day rule.

Why not? we sometimes travel with our scooter on a trailer. When on a club site both sit in the space that a car would occupy, even if we are on a non awning pitch there is plenty of space. Why do you think that you are entitled to more space then other,
come on Ian we are all members and pay the same membership and pitching costs.
