Hard standing booking trial

I can't really understand the bit about "member feedback confirmed that there was no overwhelming benefit to the majority of members to extend it."
How did members feed back? And which members? Certainly I was never asked for an opinion, other than posting on here. And how do C&CC members benefit from being able to chose whereas CC members cannot? Very strange!
Neither was I. Mind you, they all know how I feel about it!!

I can only go by the one site that I visited that was part of the trial Sutton on Sea, while we were there 5 nights all the H/S pitches were full while only a few of the grass were used. The warden even had a sign out saying that if you were on a grass pitch
you stay beyond the 12.00 departure some of the grass pitches were out of operation due to the ground being so soft, had we
not been able to book a H/S we would not have gone to this site.0 -
I am probably the only person on CT who likes the system as it is.Not bothered about being able to book HS. Don't mind using grass pitches. Like to choose what type of pitch when we arrive.

No you are not but if forced to choose we will book the hard standings.

Not the only one H&T, we don't mind, but as we usually arrive on site just after 12:00, and only use thw nion-facility sites out of low season we gemnerally have a choise of H/S or grass, and select the one that has the best aspects as far as we're concerned.

It must have been you two who provided the feedback to CC then!
Must have taken them ages to find someone who would give the 'correct' feedback......

Thats three of us then. I prefer to choose the type of pitch i want once i get to the site, and would go for grass every time as long as it was dry enough and the forecast was reasonable.

I'm not fussed, and will use whatever is available. Just because a site is all grass or has very few hard standing pitches does not deter me. My vehicle copes pretty well in the wet and you can always leave your wellies outside. Most site managers/wardens/owners
will steer you away from bad pitching areas when its wet and on one occasion I was actually turned away from a site because there were no suitable pitches left. I found another site 6 miles further on.peedee

I too will use all grass sites. I also am not afraid of getting bogged but generally prefer hard much of the time.

I'm amazed at all these tow cars & motorhomes that will instantly get bogged down as soon as they touch grass.
I never had a problem with my rear wheel drive BMW, and although I’ve never been bogged down in my current front wheel drive Audi I can get some wheel spin when pulling the caravan off a wet grass pitch.

Apart from one very very wet all grass site in Devon or Cornwall years ago I never had any problems either with any of my RWD cars ...... I don't do FWD

Not too bothered while we have a 4x4 and van with motor mover. Although in preference pick HS. Although I think if I had just spent £60,000 or so on a MH with one of those low slung Alko chassis, I would be seriously concerned about the risk, however slight, of getting it bogged down. There is scope for doing some real damage with so little ground clearance.

Write your comments here...Good points Steve. IMO pitches should be fit for purpose and able to accommodate any caravan/motorhome safely and without risk,, no matter what the weather.

Going back to the experiment and the question of feedback. Since it has been announced that the experiment of booking hardstandings will cease there have been quite a few on here that have said they don't mind either way. To me that is taking a neutral position
rather than a for or against position so it would still be interesting to have information on the body of opinion expressed by members against the experiment. Its difficult to imagine where this feedback came from. However rather than individual feedback it
might well be that the sites in question have lost revenue as a result of the trial. If that is the main reason behind the decision to stop the experiment that is fine with me but I want the Club to be honest about the reasons and provide figures and details
of that feedback to back up the decision.David

It does seem strange that the result of the trial should be so contradictory to the views expressed on CT.
Said it before but the numbers posting their views on CT are far in excess than the numbers in focus groups that so many companies use.
If I was still working I would have given my right arm to have such a pool of customers giving their opinions.
