Barnard Castle site and Motorhome help wanted plea
I am going to Barnard Castle soon, and it would be very helpful to know what the B6277 is like for driving a Motorhome going as far as Forest in Teesdale. I normally get on site and more or less stay put and walk from the site, but as one of my dogs is
getting old would like to drive up to the start of walks so I could do shorter ones for her rather than all day walks.
Motorhome is Swift 2 berth so 7' odd wide with mirrors and 18' long.
Any help advice greatly appreciated!

We drove the whole route from BC right up to Alston and beyond last year, with no problems. Big car park at High Force is nice for a picnic, as well as the lovely waterfall walk itself. Small charge to park and enter walk to falls, but well worth it. Our
MH is 5.5 metres, similar width. Have a nice time.0 -
No problems with most routes to BC. We have stayed there many times and there are some fantastic walks from the site. If you turn ight out of the site and head downhill 200 mtres then turn left you are immediately off the road and onto, I think its the Cleveland
way, through the fields albeit on a nice tarmac road, and into the woods. From there the walks really open up. Check out Bing maps and change the map to Ordnance Survey get the scale to what you require then print it out. Job done! Oh BTW the site at BC has
one of the best dog fields on any CC site. Its huge. Enjoy!0 -
You shouldn't have any problems with a reasonably sized MH such as yours. Places to try:
- Low Force (park at Bowlees car park - might be a bit tight if full - it isn't normally - but you can easily park on the entrance road).
- Hamsterley Forest. Go to the middle part (the Glade) - can be tight going down if you meet something big coming up (you probably won't) but there are lots of passing places and horse boxes do it all the time)
- Cow Green reservoir (plenty of parking, access road is narrow but has passing places and you can see oncoming traffic from a long way away)
Lots ofother good walking options but those are the ones that come immediately to mind.
