Lady wardens

The very fact you found it noteworthy enough to comment and raise the issue of 'traditional' roles proves the point we're making here. It's about perceptions and attitudes. Of course CC have it right as they'd be in big trouble otherwise.
I agree that it is 'about perceptions'. However I generally percieve that it is the lady warden tending the flowers etc and the male cutting the grass, as an example. No reason why it should not be the other way round but it is not commonly seen by me although
it does happen.0 -
I'm still surprised to find people commenting about female and same gender couples as wardens. Surely it's no longer worthy of comment in this day and age? As I said on page 1, all wardens are employed on an equal basis.
Rocky is right in saying there's a way to go yet until all people are accepted equally.
It was worthy of comment due to the nature of the discussion. I was making a point of how great it is to see the club embrassing equality specifically in this example of employing same sex couples. Unfortunately, regardless of legislation and what we perceive
to be a wind of change recently there is still a lot of undercurrent homophobia both mainstream and in large corporations. I was praising the club for once.Write your comments here...Disagree -- IMO you are incorrect in your accusation that there is an undercurrent of homophobia. ------That died out completely in the 1990's certainly north of the border.
The population of the UK is totally inclusive and everybody is equal no matter their Gender, Country of origin, Sexuality , Religious beliefs or Colour of skin. Thats how it is and how it should be.
To say otherwise is IMO creating divisions where there are none.

What utter nonsense, you are telling me that in your opinion homophobia no longer exists in Scotland? As someone who has been in a same sex relationship for the last 25 years and grew up in the 80s as an openly gay man I can assure it does. Tell it to the
22 year old who sustained serious injuries in a homophobic attack only 3 weeks ago at a Glasgow taxi rank because he was seen kissing his boyfriend goodbye. Tell it to the lad who was left for dead 12 months ago on Calton Hill...need I go on?0 -

Write your comments here...There are criminals to be found everywhere, people can subjected to violence and worse all over the UK. There can be punchups after the pubs shut and during football matches where loads of people get hurt for many reasons. People can be mugged in quiet areas. It happens regularly and it's part of British society. Unfortunately.
Hate crime against any member of society is not allowed in this country. It's illegal and has been dealt with.and so it should be.

Okay this is my last post on this topic, so let me just say look at the statistics in relation to violent attacks with regard to sexual orientation, look at suicide rates in Scotland in terms of sexual orientation, it may very well give you a different view
to the rose tinted world you seem to perceive gay people enjoy in Scotland. Granted, with regard to legislation we have come a very long way, but let me assure you as a gay man living in Scotland homophobia is very much part of everyday life. I can also confirm
from a professional stand point from someone who has spent the best part of their working life running an A&E Department patching up the abuse and trying to save the life of people who have given up on themself. No more from me on this subject.

I think the orginal content of the thread was somewhat suspect to begin with but as it seems to have taken a turn into other more contentious areas I think that it is time to close.
Thanks.
