Can we justify the use of  the word 'majority' in a post without the empirical evidence to support it?. Without it its just opinion or, at best. gut feeing isn't it?

You've gone through the entire thread and counted up the "fors" and "againsts" Ian?!! Surprised

Why didn't anyone think of doing that for Sunday Departures?

(Hang on, don't you have to have at least a 50% vote of the entire membership to call for action these days? Laughing)

I've no interest in reading the statistics whatsoever, Ian, so hope you haven't included me in the 20!

It could be 5 against and 20 who couldn't care less.

Assuming pigs fly and you get these figures, Ian, what are you going to do with them other than make a song and dance about them on here?

With 60 mph winds forecast we would have cancelled. It's far too scary for me to be towing in high winds.

I dont see it as about scary, its just about common sense

Yes it is about slowing down and taking it easier than you normally would unless of course the winds are hurricane force which is very very rare.Wink

Have you ever towed in 60 mph winds Pedee towing a 24ft single  axle caravan?

We towed on the A69 last year on our way to Keswick from Newcastle way.On the tops it was blowing a gale.

It was frightening. Of course we slowed down and took it easy. At least we know the ATC works.

Yes I have in a Mistral blowing down the Rhone valley across the A9 with an Eldis Typhoon GTX in tow with a volvo estate. Like you we took it very easy.

You can count me  in Ian, I dont really care but am happy to bolster your majorityHappy

You can count me in as well simply because some decent statistics would aid discussions like this but I am really not bothered if nothing changes at all because I see the Club having less and less influence on how and where I chose to go with my motorhome.

Membership of The Caravan Club currently stands at just over 375,000 families, representing around one million caravanners, motorhome owners and trailer tent owners.

I think I've spotted why the Club might not be in any hurry to respond, Ian!!

If you have to do it you take it easy, if you dont have to do it then it is both foolish and reckless to do it - as the HGV lorry drivers who are professionals but still end up tipped over, or off a bridge, in such conditions find.

But that really tells you very little Bugs other than there are an awful lot of members not using CT! Of more interest would be how has the Club membership grown compared to the growing interest in caravanning and what is the churn in membership? Is it in fact attracting a fair share of the growing market and is it retaining what it attracts to grow the membership.

Its about measuring the health of the Club Bugs and not taking wild guesses. Some may be quite happy not to know their subs are being gainfully employed. I hope management are not so inclined.

No TW, I'm emphasising the need for good feed back to members. I have lost count of the number of times threads are started complaining about cancellations and the booking system. Such discussion cannot be good for the Club on a public forum. The Club has
it in its power to set the record straight by making comment and giving members meaningful statistics to kill such debates.

With that I am off to watch telle.

Mmmmmm.....999,975 members who apparantly don't have a view. And most of them never post on here about anything.

I see what you're saying Bugs.......the Club prefer to blunder along in blissful ignorance, rather than take any notice of the majority of those who take the trouble to point out where they've got it wrong.

You must be very proud to act as a moderator for such a shrewd business and on such a 'popular' forum, Bugs Wink

    Cheers.

Ian, really?. Do you honestly think the CC will look at a bunch of Computer jockeys who mainly whine-with any belief?, I don't think they're that stupid. If the CC put-'3.5% of bookings are cancelled just before the 72hr cut off' there'd be plenty crying
foul because it doesn't fit with their personal viewpoint.
