Privacy Cubicles and Club Sites

I've never really understood the club's insistence on providing so many privacy cubicles in shower blocks when the demand is always for showers and most caravans have wash basins and hot water these days.  Surely it would be better to provide as many
showers as possible and lose some (if not all) of the privacy cubicles?  It would presumably be a relatively inexpensive to convert those cubicles as the plumbing is already in place.

I personally like the privacy cubicles. I choose to use them to trim my bears and to shave before showering. If I did not have a beard I probably would use them to shave. On non facility sites I am happy to use onboard showers. Not normally on any sites
    for more than 5 days.

I agree with the sentiments of the Op but would still leave 2 cubicles for those people wanting to use them. Like EasyT I occasionally use them for a wet shave or sometimes when we are just staying the 1 night we won't bother filling up with water and need
them for a wash and tooth clean. So they do have their use but there are too many allocated.

Seems to me that the CC is once again set in its ways and because they've got a template they stick to it. Lack of imagination in the Sites dept.

On the older sites, they are probably a legacy from the old days, when vans didn't have luxury bathrooms. Agree that there are too many, but then again, most caravans have nice bathrooms nowadays.

Members have said that before on this forum ajb and I completely agree with you. Some privacy cubicles are required but can't see why so many are provided, especially when there is often a queue for the showers. Really dont think that the people who design
the shower blocks ever have to use them. Just for starters why are shower cubicles placed opposite the toilets ergh! Why in some older blocks- Beechwood Grange - does the used shower water run across all the showers into one drain!

Not sure what the club rules say about bringing bears on site, let alone trimming them!

Never queued for a shower. They are always quiet at 6.30am or, on a hot day, 4pm ish

A couple of cubicles is fine, but since they appear to be so rarely used the proportion of cubicles to showers is clearly wrong.

If I use the block I tend to do so early-ish, before 7am, so there is rarely a queue but if I go in at other times there is often a shower queue but I cant remember the last time I saw a cubicle being used.

    I would agree.

Personally, I have never used one, I only (occasionally) use the showers, and of course the toilets.

One or two wash basin cubicles would be plenty, the rest should be converted to showers.

A point that has been raised many times before, but still the CC  marches on with it's fixed ideas from the last century.

I have hardly ever seen these cubicles being used, but have often seen queues for both toilets and showers. Surely one such cubicle, for the occasional, shy beard trimmer would be ample?

Another example of CC management having never ventured onto a caravan site?

We've only ever used them when our water pump packed up.

I agree...less privacy cubicles and more showers. The queues in the ladies say it all.

In the interests of hygeine every WC cubicle should be combined with a whb.

Not sure why that expense is necessary. If you are worried about the door locks prior to hand washing at the basin provided, surely a hand sanitiser dispenser would do.

Given the facilities on board most caravans we simply do not see the need for many of these cubicles. My wife has not been in the toilet blocks for years and I only use them on odd occaissions to save on toilet emptying.

I've never seen a queue for showers or toilets. Agree with less cubicles but not get rid of all of them. For sites that have tent pitches the cubicles are oftem used for a quick wash in the evening and tooth brushing, I personally don't like it when they
do that at the hand wash sinks by the toilets, I know some will say why not, I say why do it when there are perfectly good privacy cubicles available.

I tend to agree that whilst we should retain some privacy cubicles there does seem to be an over supply of them on most sites. However it might not be just a simple question of replacing them with showers. Perhaps when building or updating consideration should be given at that stage to changing the mix? And whilst they are about it how about mixer taps on sinks especially for hand washing.

Only ever use the  caravan facilities! See no need for any ablutions block on a camp site nowadays!

We are pretty similar.  OH almost exclusively uses the van facilities, I venture to the toilet block occasionally.

I've never seen anyone using them. In my opinion they would be better served as showers.

And similar for us too. However I do use the privacy cubicles when available every morning to shave and clean my teeth.

OH prefers that a privacy cubicle is available.

If it is not too personal do you shave before you shower? I do and for that reason value a privacy cubicle

I thought the best time to shave was AFTER a shower.

Most annoying thing is the hit water in these cubicles.  At the basin for hand washing after toilet use its boiling so really good for a shave, go into the cubicle and it's luke warm no good at all.

Agree get rid of them, more showers.
