Just checking availability at Garlieston and New England Bay ...... it would appear that Dumfries & Galloway no longer exists LaughingLaughing

    Errm .... who changed the title?  When I checked availability on the club website this afternoon Dumfries & Galloway came up as Dumfries  &Amp?  

    Obviously, the IT department hadn't noticed this until I posted Winking

    There are quite a few major towns that do not exist in the application. I think this is due to the mapping sodware they have bought into. To make maps look pretty what they do is pick names that will cover the whole land area, a bit like wallpaper.  Never
    mind that some are major conurbations and others are hardly even hamlets, it LOOKS pretty.

    Sad that the CC does not buy from the Ordnance Survey who have best maping system in the world.  Can't even think who else might come second.

    My guess is that they were cut and pasting, and they missed off the Galloway bit, but pasted the space in between which would paste as "&amp".  Just a sloppy edit by the back room staff.  At least the back room staff pay attention to the forum.  :)

    & (&amp) is due to & being an HTML entity (don't ask!).  In other words a reserved character that is treated specially.

    The fact that the CC website doesn't handle this properly is diasppointing but no surprise. Nothing to do with cut/paste, just with programming that's not 100% tested.
