Unsightly Flag Poles

It is not just children that can need some help in finding their way back to a particular 'van. Those who are not spacialy aware often do not notice or remeber detail either. While many caravanners can identify make, model, year of manufacture even, there
are those to whom they are all intimidating identical big white boxes.A distinctive flag is a way to allow these folk a little more freedom, especially on the larger sites and those with trees and bushes creating separate camping areas. So many thanks to the others who also fly flags so that they are not made to feel different.
There seems to be a significant increase lately in certain peer groups requiring the aid of a flag in assisting them with their ability to navigate back to their vans!! Good luck to them when there's several Union flags flying from the same site albeit upside
down! Whatever next, smoke signals or even the launching of fireworks0 -
Hi Everyone,
I have been asked to clarify ruling for commercial vehicles and flags on Club sites by a Member.
Currently there is no rule that states commercial vehicles are not allowed on sites. Also, there is no current rule regarding the flying of flags. We do expect our Members to show consideration to other people staying on the site and we would
not be able to allow anything that people would find offensive, ie offensive words/pictures.I hope this has cleared any confusion.

At least you realise that the union flag HAS a right way up. a heck of a lot don't.
It's been mentioned on here a few times. Unfortunately I don't know which is the right way
I'd look it up in the unlikely event of needing to fly one though.

Not Fully Tracy. You do not mention whether a warden has discretion to ask that the tow vehicle be parked in the site carpark rather than on pitch in some situations. Is this or isthis no longer the case?

The broad white strip at the top is next to the flagpole. Upside down the narrow strip is next to the pole. There is probably a better way to describe it thinking about it but hey ho!

Thanks for that. I'll stick with my dragon though

Thanks, Tracy and WTG and anyone else involved in achieving the clarification.
So, no rules about commercial vehicles or flags. Now we know.

Hi EasyT,
Wardens always have discretion on everything as they are the ones who manage the sites on a day to day basis. If they feel something is not acceptable they will discuss this with the relevant person.
Tracy
II'l take that as a Maybe then Tracy
Maybe a warden will require a liveried vehicle to park away from the pitch.

Plus, if you go too high then inform the CAA or put a light on it

The one mentioned by the OP was already thought to be high as a kite.

A proper Union flag has a short rope at the top & a longer rope at the bottom ...... Colours Sir ... Make it so!

I'm now going out to try a buy a flag with a commercial vechicle on it
Write your comments here...in the quest for oneupmanship, I will do the same but I will have flashing lights to add to the effect and a rope down the side of the pole to give that nice noise the rope makes on the pole as the wind whines and whistles. One
of those wind speed thingymebobs at the top may be useful to help estimate how much noise and flapping to expect.0 -
My concern is how to prevent my penguin getting entangled in the flag beneath him....
I have no problems with flags, would love to see your penguin flying Brue.

We used to have a shark shaped windsock. The dog decided it had upset him one holiday, and the windsock lost! We do have a small Jolly Roger though, proper one from a Chandlers. Sometimes goes on back of Jeep!

It is perfectly acceptable to fly the Union Flag, or Union Jack depending on your circumstance, upside down.
It is an Internationally recognised way of doing it if you wish to signal to others "I am in distress". Can be any flag at all for that matter, but I'm unsure which way is "UP" with a penguin.

Write your comments here... The beaky bit goes to the top, and the dangly webby things at the bottom. At least until it hits the water!
