Unsightly Flag Poles
Well we've arrived at Trewethett Farm CCS. As expected the front row pitches are already full so we settled for a pitch at the rear of the site which still provided excellent views of the sea and cliffs on the opposite bay. Unfortunately our view has become
slightly obstructed by one of those god forsaken unsightly flag poles that certain individuals insist on erecting to their caravans. This one has a yellow smiley face licking its lips which I recall from my youth symbolises the use of LCD!! Im pretty sure
the owners are blissfully unaware of this fact but i wish that the club would ban these horrendous rally esq symbols from their club sites. Anyway, suns shining, BBQ is lit and the beers cold. Rant over Lol....

You could ask him. Nicely to remove it and explain why.

Just how big is this flag if it's obstructing any of your view?

it's not the size that matters

The only flag poles/flags I've ever seen have been way above the height of the caravan Certainly nothing to obstruct the view!
That maybe the case on a level site however Trewethett is on several levels and we are on a level above the flag van hence its level with our eye line. Seriously though it's not an issue. We live in the coast so a sea view isn't the be all and end all to
us. Just throwing it out there to gage other people's thoughts on flag poles...0 -
LOVE THEM....don't always use ours depends on the site and proximity of other 'vans/trees etc but do use it when away with our niece so she knows where to find us...always brought down of an evening because even I hate the sound of a flapping flag at night
and if high winds forecast always down then. They are a bit of fun and quite often a talking point with queries as to why we have the particular flags we do...I would be surprised if a flag obscured a view but hey ho you learn something new every day.0 -
I've yet to see anyone on a caravan site using a pole that is more than 2" in diameter. When viewed from a few caravan lengths away it will apear much smaller still and I cant be bothered working out what angle of view it will obstruch as it will be miniscule.

Apologies, the discussion heading maybe a bit misleading. It is the flag that is more unsightly than the physical pole. If someone can advise how I can copy and paste a photo than I will share the image.

Can it be spotted offshore? Perhaps it is there to welcome the Boat People?

I was of the impression that flying of flags on club sites was against the rules, it may be similar to the No Commercial vehicles which never seems to be upheld these days.
I agree they are extremely bad taste and always amazes me that someone has gone to the trouble of buying a pole and in this case a Union Standard flag but does not have the knowldge on the correct way to fly it. Don't get me started on the ones who fly the
royal standard, do they think people will look and think, " Oh look Her Majesty has purchased a new Bailey"Flags and poles with relation to caravans and motorhomes are for rallys...if you must, but keep them off our sites along with the flashing lights attached to the poles :-(

I don't like flags flying and attracting my eye when they flutter - but that is me. Also at Christmas like to see 'vans decorated and lights etc but hate those that go through a series of rapid flashes. Doesn't bother the owners as they are inside. Annoys
me when that happens as we are unlikely to close the front blinds much before 10pm even in winter0 -
Wardens don't enforce the rule about commercial vehicles because there is no rule about commercial vehicles. We're in our seventh year of membership and there hasn't been a rule about commercial vehicles in that time or we wouldn't have joined.
