If anyone has perused the July copy of the magazine, there is a page of 'grab a bargain' sites where, with one exception which I think is a no facility site, they are all getting rather close to the £30 per night mark. Bargain? I don't think so.

Value for money is a matter of persoanl judgement bearing in mind what you want from a site. I have to agree that club sites are rarely bargains but they satisft a lot of peoples requirements and to me are certainly not silly high but I suppose that is just
an opinion as well.0 -
Let's just cut to the chase.......Moulesy, what is the price per night of the CC site you are currently on?
For us Ian? Did you not see my earlier post? Just under £16 a night. If you don't use vouchers it's just gone into peak season, so £25.30 a night, 2 adults, 2 dogs, EHU and HS. Hardly excessive. How about Brighton?

To save you the trouble......it's £25.30 per night for 2 adults......slightly more than what you say is unacceptably expensive.
Moulesy, I think you have embarrassed yourself enough on this thread......I'd quit while you are just this far behind, if I were you......

No Ian, I didn't say "unacceptably expensive" - please don't misquote me - it's poor forum etiquette! I said it was 30p more than the cap we set ourselves for July/August. ( And we'll pay that because we're relaxed about the fact that CC sites suit us fine if they're in the area we're visiting. If we thought they were overpricedvand substandard we wouldn't use them - who would if thought that?)

Point scoring again Ian? How sad. But I would be embarased if I constantly went on about how expensive and substandard CC sites were - and then used them anyway. Still each to their own, I suppose some will pay whatever the cost whether they like the site or not!

So using SteveL's argument, AD did have an amazingly cheap holiday in France for only 1 Euro per day
FYI Steve, a camping cheque pays for 1 night no matter how expensive the site is ( as long as they participate in the scheme)
It seems he did. As with the CC vouchers they can be used for nothing else. So it is a case of use it or loose it. In our case in August we will use 3 and obtain a £93.30 reduction on the week. Although as the site is what we want, where we want, we would
have paid the full price if we did not have them.0 -
No matter how much members object to the high prices the CC is charging, because we are members the CC management will continue to ignore its members and keep increasing prices every year above the rate of inflation! They don't appear to give a rat's rear
end about the wishes of members!0 -
Surfer, the bottom line is-they're a business, their 1st priority is survival followed by expansion & further profit to fund ongoing plans/models. Whilst the business is well supported & successful they will continue with that business model. For every disgruntled
member they have countless thousands of happy customers. When that trend reverses they will listen. They are mining a rich seam-why move away from it. The Billy Butlin/smiley face/hand shaking model died many years ago with the failing of the business model.
Evolve or die-CC are evolving.0 -

why some poeple believe that the club is some form of charity that should lower its prices is beyond me. You like club site you pay the price and go, if you don't like the sites or price then don't.

If you read recent reports in the June mag you'd know that the CC is looking ahead and thinking of changes. Apparently quite a few people want more Hillhead type sites. Hillhead is an example of a site with a leisure complex that doesn't spill out all over the site and if younger families want more of this I expect the CC will already be thinking about it. I'm a fan of small non fac sites and I hope the balance of choice will stay. The Hillhead sites come at a price for those that want it.

BB, 'Jurassic' is way off the mark. CC is still alive/kicking & growing, regardless of our opinions they are doing something that a lot of folk both like & support. I am not cheerleading just stating facts. I have neither a positive nor a negative attitude
to the CC brand-it is what it is, successful.0 -
CC.....evolving.....?
i thought it was 'same old, same old'.....no real change in the offering, just raise prices......
'Jurassic', comes to mind
Look how quickly CT computing issues are dealt with....
...and how's the 'book a HS' system change going..?
'Glacial'.....might also be apposite
and yet, and yet, for all its failings you, and others who knock the club at every possible opportunity, still come on CT and use club sites?

I don't know who owns the "big park" companies (probably a few consortiums involved there) but the CC has a very large selection of sites. Probably more than most and to my mind manages them well. Unfortunately costs and contingency funds rise year on year.

BB, take your ex employer, who'd have thought an overpriced shoe company would be still around almost 200yrs later?. It's a successful business & has evolved to give its customers what they want, not only engendering loyalty but picking up new customers
for nearly 2 centuries, CC have done the same. They are both still around, I'd hardly call Clarks 'glacial'.0 -

Happy to be a dinosaur, and if we are in the Jurassic mass extinction isn't for another 80 million years. Time for a few more holidays yet.

Corners, i use all sorts of sites....
both clubs (i am a member of both)
their CL/CS sites
THS temp hol sites
Commercials
continental sites and aires
supermarket car parks (i like Intermarche and E Leclerc the best)
IMHO, this gives me a real perspective of how the club and its sites fit into the total offering...im not commenting from a one view perspective as some are...
mmm, a good evasive answer as expected from you, but it doesn't really answer my point why you keep on using a club and Ct that you consider so poor? (as evidenced by your constant stream of possible improvements)

I wonder if BB tried shopping (or wearing) other cheaper shoe shops and shoes? so as to quote:
not commenting from a one view perspective as some are
Or even ask Clarkes to reduce their prices are there were other cheaper shoes on the market that did the job just as well?
