Going down then? I'm sure you said 3 star last time you posted that!
We've just arrived at Penrhos today. By using 3 site night vouchers we'll have 8 nights at a touch under £16 a night. Hardly excessive!
I really don't think you can calculate the cost per night that way! It is not a realistic comparison.
You do need to use the actual cost which is what everyone else will be paying.
The credit card voucher scheme is discontinued now so no vouchers next year

So Moulesy, that's actually nearly £26 per night.
I realise that you are a paid up member of the CC fan club, but really, trying to make their fees look more reasonable by building in the nights that are covered by vouchers!
Anyway, enjoy your second stay on a CC site so far this holiday. I won't repeat your criticism of my choice to use them for a couple holidays this year. (But twice in one holiday!.........so far!!)

Lots of comparisons made on CT aren't realistic, Kjell. Like comparing overseas sites and costs with CC, for example, but that doesn't stop the same old points being made again and again for the sake of the debate.0 -

i was looking at caravan site's for next year, as holdays are not out for next year yet i thought id price up for this year and see how much it cost's for two weeks in august-september £515.00 for 3 adults and one dog now thats a lot to say im a member as
well, we are going to cornwall this year same two week fully serviced for £280 non cc site, how can they justify charging that much discraceI'm currently on a beautiful site in Cornwall which was made even more stunning by todays lovely weather. We are fully serviced and paying a few penny's more than £22. a night for 2 adults and a little dog with awning.
The OP states that there fortnight's ends in September which should attract the sort of price per night we are paying now.
I have looked at the current price of pitches as far as a non member can and do find them to be more than I need to pay for what I am being offered. We are currently investigating CL's and the C&CC equivalent and wouldn't consider joining for access to the

Your little dog has an awning?

Campervan person, two adults, one dog in this country, we don't use the CC sites anymore, we use the insurance and red pennant etc. Not because of the price, the sites are just not up to it anymore, lots of other sites out there which offer far more for
your money. We use Flowers Camping in France vary a bit but are value - we use Tranquil Sites or A N Other in the UK. There are just better sites out there now - CC has been left behind trying to plese all of the people all of the time and is just not a club
anymore.+1, +2, so true, etc, etc.....

Treating moulsey's miss - leading comparison prices as a bit of spin.
My opinion is , If I want to tour a specific area and there are no convenient CL's or CS's, . I will use a club site and pay whatever the cost per night costs me.
After all its just somewhere to park the van while we go out enjoying what the surrounding area has to offer.

but if you were paying for all those nights youd be paying £25 a night.....so, much closer to excessive!
not everyone get free site night vouchers to bring the price down...
But I'm not!
Anyone can get the vouchers if they want can't they? I see no difference between this and, say a 3 for the price of 2 deal at a commercial site. A "special offer" is a special offer in whatever form it takes. If we didn't have the vouchers the cost would be 30p over the £25 cap we set for peak periods. Next year we won't have vouchers so we will be more likely to use CLs.

Concerns? Well only in the sense that we set a cap on what we're prepared to pay for a site at anytime of the year. If CC sites (or any others) exceed that we'll look elsewhere. We don't pay up whatever the cost, particularly if we feel the sites are substandard!

In another thread some have said if you don't like the rules when you sign up then dont join the CC, so it could be said that you knew the price of the sites and felt they were to high then other options are available
With me i look at the price and either i pay or dont ,there are other places who will take my money.....

In France they have a low season for most of the year except July and August. A lot of the sites have heated swimming pools in addition to outside swimming pools, shops, restaurants etc on site and their charges are a lot lower yet they are still making
a profit otherwise they would not be in business. Why are most British sites offering hardly any facilities so expensive in comparison?

Why are most British sites offering hardly any facilities so expensive in comparison?
Because they know in the UK campers will just pay up so they charge what the market will stand not what the sites are worth.
I also wonder if the tendency to book everything in advance here has something to do with it? If you don't like the look of a place overseas you just go somewhere else. You might lose a lot of money here if you choose not to stay (for whatever reason) so they have you.
Don't know, but it's certainly crossed my mind.

...One of the main differences that the "europhiles" keep on about is as you mention which is as there are thousan completley different ,as there are thousands of sites competing for trade, and even though some do not agree, the cost of running a site is lower than in the uk,and a lot of sites only open for the main peak weeks, athe sites are only "cheaper" as in the uk "off peak" then more than make up for it in the Family Holiday times

Unfortunately the perception of the "stay at home camper" is governed by what they have seen in the UK where many older "all facilitiy" sites are IMO horrendous. They cannot imagine that abroad a site can be quiet, spacious and well landscaped but a corner
of the site ( frequentlynear the entrance) will be set aside for swimimg pool/lbar/games/shop etc. When we have stayed abroad in Eurocamp statics, with tents and vans interspersed throughout,in many cases you would not even know that the "full facilities
exist. They are not Butlins with caravans!0 -

Write your comments here...If you do not like a cc or c&cc site in the uk,you can always get a refund and move on ,the big difference here is that as stated by some, would you be able to move on ? as the sites are always full ,because we are not in the position of having the space for the thousands of sites to choose from

Not without losing money unless you move to another (same) club site. Not much chance of that in the chosen holiday area.
Not all sites are full especially those outside of the club systems and the school holidays.
I admit I have a bee in the bonnet about booking. It's because to me, camping equals freedom to come and go as you please. Frankly, if I had to book a fixed holiday I would rather stay in a decent Hotel.

We use a premium site in Devon which works out at just under £19 a night in the low/medium for a fully a serviced pitch with water and drainage as you pay a flat fixed rate per week. BTW the wifi which is excellent, is free.

Moulsey, Thank you for your advice, but if the CC had not meant the "Write Your Comments Here" to be part of the post, they would either
1 :- not have put it to the top of the post space.
or
2 :- :- did what most other proper websites do and programme that piece of text to automatically delete when a poster starts to enter a post.
So blame the CC IT dept for their IT decisions, not your fellow members.
---------
As far as your other point is concerned, it was helpful advice to your good self, as you, being a long term poster, should be fully aware of the problems that multiple quotes, as described, can cause.

Hey Captain, we love Cornwall, but have never been able to find a site like that at those sort of prices in July/August. Which site is it? We'd be interested as we also have dogs and just a small awning. Sounds ideal.
Just goes to show how newcomers to CT can be so informative. (You are a newcomer aren't you? In case I missed you in the introductions section, welcome to CT - hope you enjoy your time with us!)
