Please can we get the secateurs out and prune down some of these extended quotes. It makes the thread very difficult to follow when they are so long.??

We don't do a lot of camping in the UK and when we do we normally stay on Club sites and are happy to pay the prices as it is all about location for us really, given we have to rely on public transport/bikes when we are there if we want to travel. However we have just had 13 nights on 'Ladys Mile' campsite in Dawlish, Devon. As we are over 50 and stayed for more than 5 nights we got a very large grass pitch for £10 a night plus we paid what worked out to be an extra £1.50 a day for metered electric. The site was large with ample variety of pitches. Almost every facility you could possibly name, except for a MHSP, so great for all types of campers. There was even 30 minutes free wi-fi on the pitch each day and unlimited internet in the main club house. The cleaning team spent all day flitting between the 6 toilet blocks as well as the gardeners doing their thing. By comparison we stopped at Birmingham area each way on a Club site that was of the usual standard and facilities and very friendly staff too. We paid £22 a night. Both places were chosen by location not price but what a bargain at Ladys Mile we thought and so impressed by the site, staff and facilities. Regards, Roy

I wonder if the CC actually have any say in pitch prices. If they do, they are being greedy and overpricing. If they don't, they should be talking to site owners and representing their members by expressing our concerns re prices.

According to the published accounts for 2014 the CC made nearly £1.5million profit on sites so they don't really need to talk to anyone but start to consider their customers

not a telling off to me!

so club sites are not exhorbitant, they are middle of the road, for every club site you will find cheaper and more expensive, how is that exhoritant?

    Agreed BB.

Corners......there are times when you have to accept that some people (in this case Keefy Sher) know far more than you about maths, statistics and data.

As they say, those who can, do and those who can't, teach.

    Never a truer word.

haha, what a silly comment that is? so you were taught to fly by somebody who couldn't? Your parents taught you to use a knife and fork but they couldn't? They taught you right from wrong but they didn't know right from wrong themselves? Anything you ever
were ever taught was by somebody who actually couldn't do that?

Yes I must send back my degrees back

One thing that stands out with the majority of threads, is the way one or two will attempt to throw in the sorts of comment that really are just trying to sidestep any comments that in reallity are showing how wrong they areWink

I thought this discussion was about CC site prices?

Since they own or lease, and run,  their own sites, they are deciding the prices.

I would have a battle of wits with you, but I see you are un-armed, and its off topic

club sites fees are fantastic value for money

With what are you comparing them?

    Good question.

If someone is too timid to go anywhere other than CC sites, it's hard to know how they would be able to compare.

Timid, mmm, am I timid of wasting my money on a site that might disappoint? I have been on non club sites and each single time have been disappointed and wished I hadn't wasted my money. I have never been disappointed witha club site. Club site are consistent
so I am assured of a good site, my time and money are valuable to me so yes perhaps I am timid for spending money on something I may not enjoy. Surely Ian as someone who has stated that club sites are too expensive for you at present you must realiase the
    importance of not wasting money?

Some folk reckon CC site prices are too expensive, yet still they use those sites. Why would they do that. It's been said often enough - CC will only hold/reduce prices if folk vote with their wheels andctheircwallets. Of course, it could be that they're
too timid to use nearby CLs? Maybe they need the security and facilities that CC sites offer after all? Undecided

I am beginning to think that the CC only raised the pitch prices to give members something to debate on CT.Smile

The thing is, Ian, if you've got a diesel car there's no alternative to buying diesel but I guess you still shop around for the best deal. So why not do the same with sites? If one considers CC sites too expensive for what they provide then surely one looks
    elsewhere? Undecided
