I contacted the club re this when I posted it, last Sunday and received the standard automated response.
Thank you for contacting The Caravan Club. We aim to reply within the next two working days.
To date I have had no other response. There has also been no club response on this or the Clumber thread. I can't say I am impressed.

Steve, they took 3 weeks to repond to an e-mail I sent about the amout of down time, so you'll have to be patient.....they'll get there eventually, but the response might not satisfy yoiu or answer your question.

we stayed at the looe site in may and members were arriving mid morning onto site and allowed on so I think that the time of arrival rule has gone out of the window possibly some instruction from the powers that be at head office who want to run the club
as a 100% cmmercial busness.also the site speed limit was totally ignored by some drivers0 -
Given the numerous threads on CT recently, praising good and rapid customer service by manufactures, some as a result of representatives monitoring CT, I am taking the step of reporting this thread. To date, despite two emails to the club and this thread,
there has been no assurance that misleading emails re arrival times for Berwick and possibly, other places, have been ammended.0 -
Hi everyone,
The Sites team have been working on this and are making changes to the communications so as to reflect the correct arrival times.
Thank you,

I can certainly ask for you, IanH!

Hi Ian,
The Regional Manager for Scotland has responded about this enquiry for Berwick Seaview and the arrival time:
“The arrival time at Berwick has been the same for a few years now (as stated in the current 2015/16 SDH) for the arrival time of 13:00.
The reason for this is as follows:
• To avoid congestion.
• Traffic Management to avoid any potential conflict with departures /arrivals.
• The Site entrance is on a steep hill and therefore at no times can we allow outfit stacking on to the road outside the site."
I hope this clears things up for you

I don't know what to make of this reply. If it has been 1 pm for a few years, why has it taken so long to get communication emails changed. Surely this must have been brought up by the wardens, who keep getting folk turn up at 12 noon. We don't use the handbook, and I can't recall seeing anything on the web site when we booked it in December. There is certainly nothing on our confirmation email, whilst the Chatsworth one booked at the same time, clearly states no arrivals before 1pm. Also how does moving the arrival time avoid outfits stacking on the road outside. If enough arrive at 1pm this will still happen, the same as it did at 12 noon. It is in any event a fairly wide road and I can think of worse places that still have 12 noon. As far as conflict with departures and congestion are concerned, that is either down to folk arriving before 12, or leaving after 12. So now by having an hour gap, people will still arrive early and be let in, but yes there is less chance of conflict.
However, I will work with whatever time is laid down, as long as that is communicated to me.

Thank you Rochelle, for taking the time to get an answer.
Unfortunately, from what visitors to the site have reported (and which agrees with my own observations when we visited this site) there really isn't a problem with access to this site.
With the greatest of respect, this is what members find annoying about some of the decisions made by CC management.
Has anyone from Grimstead Towers ever actually been to this site? Has the Scottish manager mentioned ever ventured south of the border?
Even taking account of the hilly nature of this site, entering it takes less than a minute. There is no reason on earth for having a one hour difference between departure and arrival times.
I'm afraid that this is another example of a 'stock response' being given by CC management, rather than a considered response from someone who actually knows the situation 'on the ground'.
I'm sorry, Richelle, I know that you are just passing on what you've been told. Perhaps this is another one that you ought to challenge?

Write your comments here...Ive been to Seaview twice. There is no problem entering the site after 12.00 noon. Unless anybody doesn't leave when they should (before 12.00. Noon.).
Thats where the much discussed Warden's Discretion issue can cause problems.

cannot see the problem in making all sites all sites the same tme, removes any confusion.
p.s. all off by 12 unless the warden uses his discretion

I wonder why the Regional Manager for Scotland would have any jurisdiction over an English CC site like Seaview.
Just an observation of no real importance. Probably because to those at Grinstead,--- England stops at Watford Gap.

Bet the Clubs legal department are working like beavers at compiling a reply that will say everything EXCEPT the answer to the original question.

What I find odd is the lack of consistency. Another site we have visited a few times, is Fairlight Wood near Hastings. An amazing site, but with a very narrow, tree covered, bendy last half mile. Yet although the site leaflet states similar to Berwick "Due to the narrow approach road to the site, all departures must be before 12 noon."
The earliest arrival time is 12 noon.
Surely it is these sorts of inconsistencies that are leading to problems in the first place.

If everyone is off by 12noon, what's the problem with arriving after 12noon??
The record's stuck again ..... again .... again ....
I was referring to the post by SteveL above, which says that this site specifically requires departures by 12 noon.
Time to give those specs a polish, MM.

I know what the reply was too ... but also read between the lines at what you were referring to ....

If everyone is off by 12noon, what's the problem with arriving a 12 noon??
That is another arguement entirely Ian. The point I was trying to make was the inconsistency of the CC policy. At Berwick where the obstruction is fairly minor, they have imposed an hour gap, whilst at Fairlight where the obstruction is very much worse they
are happy to have no gap.0 -
