Strathclyde CS to Glasgow City Centre
Can anyone help with information about the best way to travel by rail from the Strathclyde Club Site into Glasgow centre. Motherwell Station has a good service, but is there any car parking near?
Thanks if you can help.

Just out of interest what abouut public transport options if you don't have a car available?

Walking through roadworks reminiscent of scenes from "Lord of the Rings" is probably not a good idea. The nearby bus-stops were some of the first things to go.

A taxi to Bellshill station is about £5.00, I think they still run a private mini bus from the site into Glasgow (about £10.00 return if I remember rightly) and there is a bus that runs at certain times from M&Ds to the bus station in Glasgow. The wardens
should have details of all these options.0 -
There is a mini bus service into the centre but there are only two in the morning and not a regular service.
The best service by train is Bellshill which has more trains than Motherwell and Uddingston and parking should be easier during the week. Turning right from the park to get up the hill to Bellshill can be a problem in the rush hour and so can getting back
at about the same time. There is an alternative route out of the park though which I hope the wardens can give you which cuts out the roundabout.Just in case they cannot you drive into the park and turn left at the roundabout and go to the T junction at the top of the hill. You then turn right. Left at T junction, first right, left at T junction, first right, right at T junction and first left. You
then turn right onto main road and follow it until you see the railway bridge ahead and car park is just before it on the left.If it sounds complicated it is easier when you do it and you will probably be following locals as it is now quite well known. Do not try it with a caravan on the back as it is through a council estate with some very narrow roads and parked cars.

Thanks for all your suggestions. We planned to go by train. Scotrail had other ideas holding a strike on the only day we could go. The minibus seemed a good alternative, if a little expensive, but needs to have a minimum of four passengers. We were only two! The driver helped us by suggesting we drove to the carpark at the southern end of Strathclyde Loch and catch the X11 bus from the stop by the traffic lights. It worked a treat, £5.25 return fare. Top deck ride on the M74 and M8 is amazing.
