Children, dogs, flags, loud TV's, awning heaters, AC's, speeders, BBQ's, satellite dishes, pitching nose in and now rotary clothes driers. Have I got the list complete? Is there anything new to complain about?
Noisy Aquarolls/Wastemasters on roadways before 9am and windbreaks. M, your memory is slipping.
You al forgot doors on the right hand side. (eg continental caravans)

In fairness to the OP, I think the main issue was the fact that the rotary driers were in full view of the rest of the site not the fact that people were using them.
I use one myself rather than pay silly money for machines, also preferring to dry washing outdoors, but I do try to put it in a place where it's not likely to be so easily seen. I don't think the rest of the site would want to see my frillies.

when I was away last I borrowed some caravan magazines from the information room (Practical caravan?) in one was an feature/advert for an electric tumble dryer suitable for awning use. It looked like an slim airer but the sides were enclosed and a hot air blower at the bottom, anothe thing for the 'greens' vaners to complain about?

Seems that the OP prefers to spend their time patroling sites to see what offends them. Wasn't there a similar topic about bathrooms?

Well I think they're a brilliant piece of kit for the caravan. Light, compact when folded into the storage bag, and they work well. Don't know how else we would dry our towels and those used to dry the dog. Tried one of those airers that hang out of the
window but they're no good if you have window blind cassettes at the bottom of the window because they damage them. Must admit we do try to place ours as out of sight as possible, behind the van - but we wouldn't be without it.0 -
Since everyone seems to love them Can I ask which type or brand you have? This thread has reminded me that I want one for our Euro trip - we have an 'over the window' type but it doesn't hold much and obviously we can't leave it in place when we go out.

We bought a smallish rotary for when we are away a month, but sadly circumstances mean we can't get away for such long periods at moment. (We used to drop into a laundrette close by a couple of times Hakinbush).
We use it at home now, brilliant bit of kit, a lot better than large one at home.
Never had much of a problem with seeing them on sites, but then again we are out enjoying ourselves too much to care!

I don't know about anyone else but I intend to hang our washing on it! A 4 person family on a 5 week trip - we couldn't possibly pack enough clothes without doing some washing while we're away. Imagine the underwear alone!

We do use a rotary drier when away, wouldn't be without it. However, as at home, when the washing is dry we remove all the pegs and just fold the arms back up, looks neater that way. Wouldn't dream of using a tumble drier while away, unless in an emergency
situation. At home the young couple living next door really don't seem well off but they never hang anything out to dry and the tumble drier is on every day (we can hear it) don't even want to think about their electric bill.0 -

Ours is Hi-Gear brand and we use it for the same sort of thing we'd use one for at home.
They're readily available at most camping/accessory
shops or ebay etc.0 -
We have one but would only use it if we were staying more than a week, or occasionally for towels if it is really warm. Other than that we just bag all washing and take it home where it gets tumble dried anyway.
I have absolutely no problem if others on site want to use them though - really doesnt bother me if people have lines or dry washing on bushes or anywhere else to be honest.

We do seem to have a washing machine in our van and the rotary drier is to dry its output, on a 3 month trip we bring lots of clothes but not enough to manage without washing
We're the same David. Use the twin tub and rotary dryer for both clothes & bedding.

I think the point is with these, is that it can result in damage to said bushes or trees. Also they may well be outside the confines of your pitch. Personally I think a rotary drier is a good alternative and very efficient on a good drying day. Perhaps any anti members would like to lobby the CC for lower tumble drier rates. The current cost of a £1 for 15 mins is very high, given that it probably uses about 8 pence worth of electricity at most. Also the efficiency of most means you need at least 2 cycles.

...au contraire....ours is an upmarket traveller type
folk who spend many weeks ar a time in their vans need to be agle to wash and dry clothes, the clubs pricing policy, as Steve says, discourages the use of its electrical equipment.
rotary clothes dryers are fine, do the job well and take up minimal space....

Rotary dryers seem to be very popular, I don't particularly like seeing them all over a site, but it doesn't bother me enough to complain about them. Perhaps we will have to buy one, We are the odd ones out on sites now!
