Now TV Box and CC Wifi

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I wondered if anyone has a NowTV box and how do you connect it to the club WiFi? When we tried to connect to the club wifi the Now box immediately connected to the wifi because it lets new connections
view the club  website, however we couldnt sign in to be able to use the Now box.

Any suggestions?

    THe cclub wifi will not allow that to be installed as it is not designed to do that ,it is just really for emails andweb search,there is not enough band width

    As JVB66 has said, the club WiFi is not designed to be used with that type of device. Even if you could get it to work the network speeds would not give any sort of pleasurable viewing.

    Thank you for your help, what a shame and how disappointing! I was going to buy a yearly pass for the wifi but we decided to just get one day to try it out, when we were buying it I am sure it said something about being really good for watching films and
    tv, it even said that it was different to 'coffee shop' wifi because most people in a coffee shop wouldnt be watching tv. So basically the club wifi is kind of a bit useless then since pretty much everybody can access emails through their own mobile device
    which makes me wonder about the amount of club money being spent on it if  it  dosent really work that well?

    You'll find numerous threads across this forum complaining about it, Catherine. I wouldn't spend my money on it.

    The problem with relying on mobile internet is that Club sites are mostly in rural locations where signal strength can be poor.

    Now TV uses streaming. We have 2 Now TV boxes at home and they are brilliant.

    They don't use HD so that saves some band width, but I wouldn't dream of trying to use it on Club site wifi system. I do wonder whether others use similar devices and this explains how useless the Club wifi often is.

    I had thought of using my phone wifi hotspot (have tried it at home and it worked) but I have a limit on usage for that and not sure how much it will use.....

    Generally it does work fine for e mails, web surfing etc, I don't think it was ever intended to be used for streaming.

    As TW said, many sites are in rural locations where broadband speeds are low.

    One thing I do wish, is that people would stop assuming that "Everyone" or even "almost everyone" actually has a "device" that can access e mails, and that then "everyone" has a contract costing whatever that allows them to do so.

    Plenty of us use PAYG SIMs, and use our phones as just that.......a phone.

    there was a thread on here where the club had 'banned' certain sites that would use a lot of 'bandwidth', these were media streaming sites (does anyone else remember - the site concerned sold underware and 'things'? the club said it was stopped not for its content but it was 'data hungry')

    Thanks for that brue. Nice to see, looks as though they are going to instal WiFi at Troutbeck head. Staight to Fibre to the cabinet, bypassing the snail band stage. It will be a big advantage,  as we like Troutbeck but need to stay in touch and you have
    to walk or drive a long way just to get a phone signal at the moment.

    One of the problems with this web site is not being able to see information easily. To find wi-fi details takes three separate searches. I do hope the new web site has a direct search facility.

    I think this pretty much makes clear what to expect from the wifi......

    " The service we offer will not be what you might expect in your own home, not least because you are sharing a limited bandwidth with multiple fellow caravanners on site but also because some of our sites are quite some distance from the exchange which means
    the speed we can achieve is very limited. As a consequence of this we can really only offer the service for basic web surfing and emails and cannot support any video or TV streaming e.g. BBC iplayer and YouTube, FaceTime and Skype or any computer updates.
    We also ask you limit the upload or photos as all of these activities will prevent anyone from accessing the Wi-Fi network. Content filtering will be introduced to try and improve the Wi-Fi experience for everyone. The Club have chosen to trial limiting access
    to certain websites, content and file types that tend to be data hungry to see if this helps the overall Wi-Fi performance on site. "
