Routes - to Windermere
We are travelling to Windermere for Easter and normally go from Keswick down the 591however with the road closed we are going to have to go down the M6 to Kendal. Is it best to come off at junct 39 onto the A6 to Kendal or go down to Junct 37 and then back
up to Kendal. We will be towing. Thanks

I would use the latter route, as, although it's a bit further, it's all motorway and dual carriageway. You won't have to tow over Shap and through Kendal, which was certainly busy today!!

If you want to avoid driving through Kendal, go down to J36, then on the dual carriageway and Kendal bypass. If you were to get off at J37 you would still end up in Kendal and have to negociate the one-way system and roadworks which are sure to be ongoing.
its not much further down than J37

OOPs, that's what I meant to say! Got 37 mixed up with 36, as I don't look at the junction numbers, OH just says "Turn off
at the next junction!".....Thanks Goldie0 -
I'm used to giving people directions round here!
That's because of all the road closures I guess.

We are to be reconnected to the village sometime this week. So the council say. There has been activity round the closed bridge, but no sign of the barriers being removed. Delivery drivers ring and ask "which side of the bridge are you?"

Thank you, think we will go down to 36 and then back up, dont fancy towing through Kendal.Have a great Easter.
Good thinking. Enjoy your trip to Windermere.
