one thing that even the most ardent club hater agrees on, what most site reviews comment on, is the cleaniness of the toilets/showers, and this has been going on for years Maybe this isn't an accident but the result of the current method of cleaning? Why
would the club change a winning formula?

I don't clean toilets on a large scale but if I did I personally think it is easier to do to the current high standard if they are closed rather than having people coming in every few minutes.

Finally are peple really that put out by the blocks being closed for a max of two hours? On every site I've been to there is either a second block to go to or a spare toilet is open.

But no sooner have they been cleaned and reopened they're dirty again be there is a nucleus of members who can't be bothered to use the toilet brush or mop the shower.

There is also the "hang up" in this country of strictly segregating male and female loos and showers. I'd be in favour of no closing them at all and making them all mixed!  Perhaps a move too far for most however.

I do not think my comment was incendiary at all, I did not accuse anyone of hating the club - how can anyone on here and/or a member of the club hate something that they have volutarily joined and/or paid for? No one was targeted. I was merely making a point that everyone cannot fault the cleaniness of the club or the efforts the wardens put into it. The thing is that we do not have site managers, or monkeys paid peanuts, we have wardens who live on sitec and care, take a pride about their sites. This does not happen on other non club sites, (maybe on CCC but judging by my expereince on one no).

To those like yourself who are frustrated or don't like the way sites are run, too expensive, can't book a HS... then go elsewhere, you really are not forced to come to club sites, it is your choice. But strangly enough club sites are full of people who do want to go there.

You say you don't use the toilet blocks yet you want to change the way they are cleaned?

As anyone really been put out, had their holiday spoilt by blocks being closed for an hour or so a day? or the office being closed for an hour a day in the morning?

but is the process poor?  In the case of cleaning, the proof of the pudding is the 'fact' that they are very clean, everyone agrees? Could they be cleaner? so why consider the process to be poor if the end result is good or better? Is there any evidence
that would suggest a diiferent approach would deliever a better end result? Change for the better yes.

I assure you I don't take it personally and I know that you do believe what you say and its not a case of of you being a 'constant complainer' who critices the club at any possible point.

I will ignore the rather personal and unneccessary 'club hater' comment above, because I do like aspects of the Club, but it can be improved upon (believe it or not!).

In the case of toilet cleaning, I guess the only way to test that is by example. Yes, the Club toilets are very clean (immediately after being cleaned). But so are the toilets on virtually all French sites I've been to - and they mainly use a single cleaner, don't close the toilets and do them several times a day.

So, which of them is doing it right?

(Incidently, the C&CC have introduced some sort of 'clean toilets campaign' in recent years and, I have to say, their facilities have been spotless on the sites I've been to).

I think you should re read my earlier post Ian to BB, I said it there but I'll say it again it was not aimed at you or anyone as I explained. How can you be logically a club hater if you use CT, rejoined the club, and use club sites?

we were on a site on the ile d'olleron and the showers were, in effect, virtually open air.....just a row of cubicles (facing the morning sunshine) with a roof above but doors like saloon doors only a bit deeper....men or women next to each other, i dont
think any there thought it was odd or uncomfortable...

Write your comments here...I bet you dropped the soap often BB.  Wink

I agree Ian,  The toilets (and often there are also showers) in main motorway service facilities are in constant use, constantly cleaned and usually extremely clean without the long closure time of club sites.

I'm all for cleaning throughout the day, but who would do it? Extra staff?  Even on minimum wage that's going to add to costs, isn't it? Or do we take wardens off other duties?

So dedicated hygiene 'teams' employed, that's extra staff, extra costs. But, it seems to work extremely well, with high standards, minimum disruption for most of us members as it is! Why incur
extra overheads for little if any gain at all, which of course we all know would have to be passed on!

To change the system would badically mean the wardens no lo ger doing the cleaning. It would help but the cost would have to go onto site fees. With wardens doi g it late morning seems almost inevitable in most cases so it is really a question if you want
to pay more for a different possibly more acceptable to some service or stick with the current service. For me I will stick particularly as many sites have two toilet blocks so there is always one open and most of the rest have a searate small facility for
use when the main one is closed.

Not sure who finds the current system a problem as there always seem to be a toilet if you look.

agree with above (not the cleaning while...) The system as at present gives an excellent outcome with no or minimal disruptions to those on site.

the are closed so that they can be cleanedSmile

the OP was just remarking the change of times, not them being closed.

Has anyone been inconvievenced by them being closed?

I've only been inconvenienced a few times by the toilets being closed for cleaning. Mostly that's been on leaving day. But I have noticed that some people rarely leave the site, so I guess they must be inconvenienced.

But if the CC used the French system, no-one would be inconvenienced, because they don't close the facilities......and no-one is disadvantaged by that. In fact, there is the huge advantage of having them cleaned several times each day.

Some have said that there must be a cost for this. So how come French sites (with all their extra overheads for providing pools etc) are massively cheaper than CC sites?

Perhaps ir's because they don't employ multiple sets of wardens to cover 'all eventualities' such as having two people to clean the toilets.

Please don't even try to reply with some smart-arse comment about wardens needing time off......I'm comparing with the French here! Wink

A bit rude! Who is being a smart arse,  what's smart arsed about stating facts? I can only presume it doesn't fit 'the model'!

Lots of things we use in every day life close at a certain time and we seem to manage to work around it. However, close a toilet block for an hour and it is a major problem, despite a second block or alternative toilet being available. Personally I think
it time this thread is flushed into oblivion.

For those of a delicate nature, I would just like to point out that I did not swear in my post above. (Although I note that Micky used the word twice in his reply, so presumably he is doubly guilty?)

Even such prim and proper organisations such as the BBC would include the phrase "silly arse" in Brian Rix farces etc

Shakespeare used the 'a' word in Romeo and Juliet.

Incidently, the Cambridge dictionary definition of 'smart arse' is "someone who is always trying to seem more clever than other people in a way that is annoying"......rather appropriate to some people, I thought! Laughing

Now, perhaps someone would like to explain why the French system described in my post at the top of this page, would not be better for customers of the CC.....

Why would it better, as I said above what is so difficult about using the other block, if available, or the alternative toilet.

I am not being sarcastic , just dont see the porblemEmbarassed
