Perhaps if people left the facilities as they would like to find them it would not take so long to clean them.

Write your comments here...Precisely !! Those public lavatories are often left in a disgusting state. I feel sorry for the poor wardens who have to clean up after filthy people.. -------------  That's why  discerning caravanners use their own facilities.

Nearly every time I log onto CT there are a number of people whinging if not one thing then another, now it's toilet times. One does'nt have to be caught out whatsoever. Just about every caravan has a built in toilet and those very rare ones that don't can
obtain a portable loo. Can't see what the problem is, I NEVER use site facilities, never will. Some people need to get a life and stop whinging and contribute something of interest.

Most of it's not whinging, just passing comment. Isn't that what's CT for? To put ones point forward?

The time we want to use site facilities is a few minutes before we leave and, yes, they're usually closed for cleaning!  Afternoon cleaning seems far more sensible or do what they do abroad and don't close them for cleaning!

Not just abroad I'm afraid to say.

I have stayed on many non CC or C&CC sites in the UK which manage to clean whilst keeping the toilet blocks open.

But obviously they'll do it quicker and better and they'll be cleaner abroad Undecided

Surely the length of time it takes to clean a toilet block depends on how dirty the club members and visiting members of the public have made it?

On numerous club and commercial sites i have noticed the cleaning times are given as "approx as we clean to a standard not a time tableSmile and
as said to me by wardens nobody seems to know when the time for closiing is but they are always outside at opening timesUndecided

As has been said, you can never please everyone but my experience tell me that on sites when cleaning is taking place toilets have been made available! Either the disabled is left open or, on sites with two toilet blocks, staggered cleaning means there are showers and toilets open 24hrs a day.

As like many sites it has more than one toilet block the cleaning times should not be a problem as there is always one open. On the sites with one most now have one or more toilets you can use when the main block is shut so again cleaning times are not a
    problem.

Having seen the state some members leave the toilets I don't believe it can wait till late afternoon for cleaning. After the morning rush they can be like a bomb site as some members clearly don't know how to use a loo brush, I would like them to be cleaned
    morning and evening.

There would be a cost problem with that although wardens should check them on a regular basis during the day.

Why do 'some' who according to them rarely use club sites insist on changing a system which has worked very well down the years and made club sites so popular. I have yet to read a site review where the cleaniness of the shower block was anything less than
    good, why is this?

Is it because the club uses wardens that live on site, take a pride in their site and really do a good job? Employ someone for peanuts and you'll get monkeys who won't do a good job, and they won't be there to complain to, or clean up any mess later on in the
    day.

Of course after some Caravanners have used the facilities the toilets can be disgusting.

There is no need to change the warden's duties Toilet cleaning is an important part of their job.

The  ladies toilets were left in a disgusting mess this morning at Castleton site. I really feel for the wardens having to clean these toilets. Please leave the toilets in a condition you would like to use them.

K did you not say only the other day that "discerning caravanners" use their own facilities?

Write your comments here...I did indeed, the reason being ,that they do not want to be faced with the disgusting mess that some other caravanners leave after being in the public lavatories.

Write your comments here...There are normally toilets available when the main ones are being cleaned , you just need to ask .

Toilet blocks on all the CC sites we visit are always first class & spotless .

sorry my post wasn't that clear, it wasn't the change in cleaning times I was objecting to but the idea of replacing the wardens cleaning the toilets.

Apologies again, I'm really don't mind when they cleaned

I agree they are certainly spotless after cleaning, however, there is no disputing they are often left in a disgusting state by some members. We stay on CC sites for over 100 days a year and have felt sorry for the wardens, who have to clean up the mess,
on numerous occasions. In our experience the problem always seems worse at weekends, even when the sites are full all week.

Is it the case that caravanners are divided into two distinct groups. 1 :-Those who prefer to use the facilities they have paid for within their van and   2 :-Those like the travelling community who would never use the van's on- board facilities and find somewhere else.

There is probably not a right or wrong choice... it depends to which group an individual caravanner belongs.

Cleaning times should be irrelevant to both groups.

Apologies if this is a daft question but if it is blame it on me being a new poster -

Why is the routine to shut reception whilst both wardens clean the toilets at the same time, why cannot one warden stay on reception whilst the other cleans one block for the required time, then swap over?
