Currently on the club site in Barnard Castle known as Barney I believe. The site is indeed a gem and only 100 miles from home how have we not been here before? Weather has been ok and we've had some good walks both into town and down the river.

The facilities here are great and the wardens ever so friendly, many thanks to them both.

pay a visit you won't be disappointed

Hi Steve.  Thanks for your post.  Great to hear you are enjoying the site at Barnard Castle.  It might be really useful if you could leave a review under the site entry too.  I'm sure folk would find it useful.  I've never been to this site, but will put
it on my list for the future.

Not tried that but it is a nice area. We have used Durham Grange which suits us and costs a bit less.

Must have been different wardens when we stayed there last year..... Can't say the site excited me either. However we are all different!

We drove through Barnard Castle on our way back from York last year and it looked like a lovely little town and we are going to try and go there for a few days at some point this year so it is good to know that the site is good.

Yes i agree the sites nice, even though its next to a borstel, shame the town is a bit grotty, some great walks in the area though.

We all have different perceptions.  I would never describe Barnard Castle as "grotty".  The site is a pleasant walk from the coffee shops of Barney. The wardens have always been pleasant and friendly.

We had 3 nights at 'Barny' leaving Easter Saturday. What a beautifully clean site with lovely wardens. Pleasant 15 minute stroll to town . Good butchers and variety of pubs and coffee shops to choose from. We had a 30 min drive to the spectacular High Force
    waterfall.  Thanks all

The price put us off when we wanted to go last year but we found a perfect private site just a couple of hundred yards up the road from the club site. We don't usually go to private sites as we mainly use CLs but couldn't see one to suit us nearby.
