Hi folks we are thinking of using this as a base for the Springsteen concert in June but as it will be late finishing has anyone got any ideas on traveling back to the site as we will be in our motorhome and will be using public transport ?

Thanks

Geordie

If it's the concert at Hamden,  your best bet would be a taxi. It's not that far so shouldn't be expensive

I don't think that site gets much public transport (ie 'bus) at any time any more.  You may have to wait in a very long line to get a taxi, and I'm not sure how keen any random driver will be to go outside his area on a long trip when he could make far more
money on runs to the city centre.

So a possible plan would be taxi to city centre and a train to Uddingston, Bellshill or Hamilton West station as they are all about the same distance from the site, but too far to walk. Have a number for a local taxi and phone for a car to meet the train
once you are on it and out of the tunnel.

Public transport could be tricky at that time of night.  You could travel back into Glasgow by train from Mount Florida (along with the rest of Hampden) but once you're there, it may be too late to get any transport out to Strathclyde Park.

Try giving Hampden Cabs a call as see how much they would charge to take you back.  They could probably suggest the best pick up point and you'll have peace of mind that you'll definitely get back!

You can get the train back from Mount Florida but only to Newton which is still possibly four or five miles away and a bit remote. You could get a train into Glasgow Central and a taxi from there would probably be about thirty pounds as you are outside the
city boundary. However the local taxis in the Hamilton,Bothwell, uddingston area are usually taking revellers in at that time and should be able to pick you up but you will need to get the numbers before you leave the site.

Your nearest Stations are Blantyre, Motherwell or Hamilton, it will still be a £15 to 20 taxi from these stations. Strathclyde site is next to i.e. the back fence is on the Raith interchange junction wtih M74 and East Kilbride bypass(from memory A725    one
of the busiest junctions in Scotland! lorries etc, coming up from M6 spliting for Glasgow and Edinburgh, There is also ongoing roadworks, so hopefully they may be finished not sure when this due.

The nearest station is in fact Bellshill but like  the others named there is no direct trains through from Mount Florida. You could however change at Newton where the Mount Floeida trains terminate for Blantyre or Hamilton.

Taxis may not be at Blantyre and Hamilton West but there is a rank at Hamilton Central but you are then well past the site.

Mini busses do run from the site into Glasgow during the day and it might be the owners could arrange something for you. Might be worth speaking to the wardens as they may have advice on the subject.
