Excessive site charges

Can someone enlighten me as to what does a Club site provide for young teenagers in any season, I don't imagine many of them are particularly excited at using a swing or seesaw. Other sites may be more expensive in peak but they do provide more for children
of many agesAre CC sites supposed to provide something special for teenagers?

We have moved on so another comparison on the theme of excessive [CC Ltd] site charges. We are now on a French commercial aire; not dissimilar to some of the CC Ltd sites. Grass pitches, fresh water, grey, black and rubbish disposal are within the price.
There are no facilities nor electricity and wifi is not available. The location is very close to a beach similar to Pendine Sands and about 200m from a small shopping, café, restaurant centre. Considering it is a French holiday w/e (Bank Holiday) the price
of just below £5.50 seems reasonable. I leave it to you to compare and contrast.OK, DD, so allowing for your continued reference to French sites in this UK section, I'm struggling to understand this apparent obsession with comparing prices to CC sites specifically, since I'm pretty sure there's not a site in the UK anywhere offering
£5.50 per night pitches and since a comparison's already shown that in July a CC site is considerably cheaper than a nearby commercial? Why do you continue to single out CC sites for criticism?0 -

We were considering this when walking within the beautiful scenery of the western highlands yesterday. The club provides some superb sites, at reasonable prices, in some of the most fantastic parts of this country. The CC asks us to rate them, on amongst
other things suitability for children. How can you do this. Ours would have considered them suitable, as they enjoyed the great outdoors, although in those days we went for more basic sites. Others would not be so impressed as they require made entertainment,
rather than self generated. In our example of yesterday we were walking by a stream with lots of small sandy and gravel areas. When they were young they would have enjoyed playing in the stream. As they became teenagers they went off walking / biking by themselves.0 -

of many agesI guess CC don't provide anything because that age group are a minority if you look at the demographics over the whole year. You hit the nail on the head in your last sentence, Natasha, and that is likely the answer. Enhanced facilities = increased costs
to us all. Do you not take the youngsters off site to enjoy skate parks, discos or whatever is their preference?Pretty much my thoughts having holidayed with my kids at all ages.

It seems to be the trend these days, that some parents take their kids away and then want someone else to entertain them or entertainment facilities to be provided.
Take a look at hotel reviews on Trip Advisor and you see any number of comments about the standard of the kids entertainers, the 'kids club' etc.
I thought that the idea was that holidays were when parents could spend some time with their kids? Apparantly not.

Exactly right, Ian. And that's what so many of us have enjoyed for many, many years about CC sites. They're not all singing, all dancing holiday parks with entertainment laid on. They're an alternative style of holidaying. And let's hope
they continue in that way!0 -

Write your comments here...You do have a point Ian. Children are part of the family and should enjoy family holidays because they spend time with their parents, not stuck in some play area or told by their parents to go away and amuse themselves.

etc. Not saying CC should have childrens entertainment but we should take into accounts kids needs when going away. When ours were young we always looked for kids stuff to keep them occupied to save teh "I'm bored" type of comments.0 -
MT, tourer explorer, family friendly, family breaks, are all used by the CC in advertising to attract families. Yup, Children are welcomed & encouraged to use CC sites. Long may it last

Unfortunately a significant number of "parents" take their kids on to CC Ltd sites and allow them to run riot
and annoy other campers. I'm against entertainment being laid on but it may keep the little darling out of other peoples hair.Personally I would say problems are rare, but we do generally avoid peak times. Are you referring to these sort of times?

CC sites do not seem to suffer from this more than any other and we have had no problems in 28 years with the club. I did notice a similar complaint about a site run by the C&CC so it is not confined to CC sites.

Its the end of October, the Clocks went back last night! So its very much the low season for Club sites!
But for the past three nights we have been on a CC site, our first stay on a club site this year. All of our other useage has been CL's But the Caravan has just had its annual service and we always use it for a few nights after the service to ensure that
all is how we want it.Shocked to be charged £66 for the three nights! of £22 pernight

Sorry EJB the post closed down before in finished!
I meant to say, I was shocked to be charged £22 for three nights in the very end of season, when I usually pay £14 per night on a EHU equipped CL in peak season!
My concern was really that the CC site was two thirds empty when all around in this holiday area other private & commercial sites were clearly pretty well full (half Term).
I was advised that the private sites were full because they offered more facilities like a bar and a pool, but at a lesser price!
That worried me. I have been a member well in excess of 30 years but today due to our pricing Policy, even I now only use CL's.
Nevertheless I am proud to be a CC member and want it to contiue to succeed indeed to flourish. But are we getting left behind? A few years ago we could proudly point to our very high standard of facilities etc, but today they are no longer unique from that point of view. Private & commercial sites are now very often as good and are doing it cheaper!
Its all very well saying everything in our world is fine but is it? Are we being left behind now?

When I left this morning there were only a handful of vans & MH's left on site. It closes next weekend. As I said my concern was it was never more than 1/3 full, when the surrounding sites were bursting. Granted some were obviously rallies.

Should have gone to Forton House CL, Brian. £15 a night with HS, EHU, toilet & shower. Could have made sure everything was in working order there!
