M, if you do decide to visit Shropshire, a tad further North is Much Wenlock site, which is really lovely, and still very cheap, £14 for everything, all season, although a no toilet block site. Gorgeous little site, sadly will be lost forever come Autumn.

Had  look at the Practical Caravans top 100 sites and while the clubs sites are probably a bit above average for similar sites they are by no means a long way out. Prices go well over £40 with the highest I spotted at £48. There is one shown as £140 but
    that is probably an error.

BB Do you have any information as to How old ML Ludow is compared to other sites in the area which could go a long way towards compareing the "different" customer experiance

    ...in what respect?

are you (sneakily) suggesting that comparisons with 'newer' sites are, somehow, not valid......ie skewing customer perspective?

customers arent daft, they know what they like.....if the site offers first class facilities, space and staffing.....the fact that its fairly recent shouldnt count against it.....Undecided

...How does your m/v compare to one of the same type built  10yrs earlier

And as stated on other threads when quite a few cc & ccc sites came on the network big c/vans were 15ft and tow cars of much smaller dimensions so there was more than enough room, where as now without losing pitches,by enlarging the roads to allow todays outfits and most of the other points are already mostly covered or are when the sites on both clubs are refurbished during the ongoing refurbishment programmes, and how many hours out of the 23 normally available is not conveniant for a shower

Thanks for that, will take a look. Probably have to wait till next year now though, not many gaps in the calendar left this year! Happy

Should you go in autumn you'll find a fine selection of cherry trees in full fruit on the roadway leading down to the auction mart, opposite the site. Yummy!!Wink

Us too. It's on our list to visit in the summer. It's usually a quiet site but I suspect that it will be busier than normal this year with the regulars spending time there before it (unfortunately) closes for good.

Write your comments here...shocking news! Sunday 30th April is showing fully booked! Won't be though, especially if you ring Wardens to check! Only £14 as well. All season. Including children. And dogs. Happy

Write your comments here...Why does the website show sites fully booked when there is availability. What is wrong with the CC's internal communication when what is displayed on the website is inaccurate. It only take a second or two to update a site's details.
The CCbusiness could be losing considerable income if what you say is correct TTDA.

It depends if reliance on the web bookings page is the chosen method of checking pitch availability K, in our case it isn't, never has been, never will be. Sometimes good old fashioned methods work better. I prefer to phone a site, talk to Wardens, see what
the "at the front line" picture is. I am sure that occasionally a site may be fully booked, but it has only happened to us once, bearing in mind we never book Club Sites in advance, and don't use the busy sites. Good management by Wardens to have a couple
of pitches or so in reserve, at least up to last minute. Anything could happen to a pitch, electrical failure, some prat digging it up with poor manoeuvring skills etc..... So having something for emergency a few days  keeps things ticking sweetly. Sound Leisure
Management principals. Ideal scenario would be the ability to sell that very last emergency pitch at a knockdown price on the day, but that sort of flexibility isn't available sadly.

Ha ha, not really BB! I knew what you were saying. Obviously can't speak for Nellie, but whilst we love really quiet places, ideally just us and a nice view, we do sometimes use Sites that are very busy. For example we got the very last pitch at Barnard
Castle last year, but that was a means to an end. We had a Site night voucher and made the most of it at this £30+ site as part of a tour. (Reviewed site if you are interested!) We wanted to visit Peterborough Abbey a few weeks ago, so in a fit of uncharacteristic
madness, I looked at Ferry Meadows during Feb half term. Usually any school holiday period on a Club Site is out for us, but location, price and ease of cycling into Peterborough, and superb dog walking made this too good to miss. We really enjoyed it as well.
It is finding yourself in the midst of the unexpected (Meathop busy in a wet, cold MarchSurprised) that we try and avoid. Hence certain
Club Sites we are very unlikely to use. Chatsworth, York Rowntree, will be far too busy and cramped for us, as well as not good value for money. Both happen to be on our doorstep, so we know them well.

Mine is 9 years old and apart from ALDE, which even now isn't universal across ranges, I can't see any difference unless you are desperate to have the sun beating down through the skylight. Certainly nothing to make me want to shell out for a newer one.

Yep, we love our little AS, been a good choice for us, but wouldn't suit everyone. Everything about it is good quality, works fine despite its age. We bought it to tour round in, rather than pitch up and stay on one site, (we still have caravan for that)
and as doing lots of trips in this country is what we are limited to at moment, it's size, mpg and ease of use suits us to a tee! Wouldn't rule out something like a nice compact Hymer though at some point, but only after a lot of research.

OOPs don't know what happened there when trying to reply.

You have not understood my OP about the rallies on site. I have no problem with a site being busy, and would expext them to be so in high season. Don't know if you've been to both Meathop Fell & Much Wenlock, but there is a great difference between the two. Even when Wenlock is full ( very rarely) the vans are not stacked close to each other, and it certainly doen't look like a car park, unlike Meathop when full......IMO of course.

Our is the same Tammygirl. And I'll lay a bet that it has had a lot more use than 95% of the vans on site and hopefully there's a good few year's life left in it, too.
