Sounds handy!  Is it a Caravan Club app, Tracy?  I can only see the magazine one.

Hi WanderingHans, yes it's The Caravan Club App. It only got launched on Thursday. Go to your App Store and search Caravan Club UK Sites and it should come up. It really is a good app for booking

Wonder why there's no word of it in the Club's news page, or the UK Holiday's section?

I have downloaded it and it seems to work well and can even look at site details offline. The existing site is fine on my pad but this new app should be much easier on a phone. I agree it seems strange there is no mention of it on the web site, even in the
    latest news section.

I guess it depends where and when you're looking for Wildwood.

I'm sure there will be soon nelliethehooker. It's too good to keep hidden away

If you search for iPhone only, rather than iPad, it comes up.

Looks like it might be a Beta version - first CL I looked at showed up on the map in the centre of Glasgow instead of outside Stirling

But it will be very handy, i like apps that can use your location and show you what's in the area.  Great for touring

Now that the app is widely available, in my opinion the APP should now have the members details on it and by doing this we can do away with the membership card thereby saving money !

You can get it on the ipad but it's obviously a phone app.

I need a card to get a discount on the M6 Toll and only have an old Android phone, buying a new phone  wouldnt save me any money

We only have one smart phone, so it would have to be capable of showing both membership cards, as they are individually named. B&Q could not manage this with our diamond card, so what chance the CC can manage it.

I knew the app was in the pipeline because I did some testing of it for the Club, trying to fish out errors etc.  I didn't know it had been released.  The test version looked promising, but the trial did have errors which I guess they have now sorted out.
Many will find the app very useful.

    Enjoy!

The membership number is the same on both cards. Everything is going digital, I recently used ryanairs app for my boarding passes and itr wa svery easy to use as well. The club could save money by not printing the cards and posting them out..

Thankfully it is also available on Android.  I have just downloaded it and had a little play with it, and it would seem to be quite good. The CL information is out of date though.  Two CL's I looked at were giving the opening dates in 2012 and the other
in 2010.  No doubt this will be sorted soon.  When everything is up to date, it has the potential to be a very good app.  It is also a lot easier than navigating the website on the phone as we have had to in the past.

I find that hard to believe. If you qualified that and said not every member had a smart phone that would be more believable. I suggest the only ones who may not have a smart phone would be the very senior members, I cannot imagine the none retired not having one. One of my grandchildren told me yesterday that they now did all their school work on their smart phones because all the pupils had them!

Perhaps those that haven't taken the plunge should get a younger member to show them how to use one?????Smile

I have down loaded the App but not yet had a play with it.

Quite simply if you don't have a suitable phone you carry on as before.  The launch of the app will not affect other methods of booking sites either on the web site or on the phone.  We have some friends that don't even have a computer and rely entirly on
the handbook and telephone, and they are quite happy with that.  I for one am very happy the app has arrived, it's been long over due.  It will probably be my prefered way to book sites.

Could I play devils advocate for a moment and ask what is the advantage of this App? I imagine one advanatage might be when you are on the road. However I don't ever recall looking for a Club site having not previously preplanned my visit via the main website
at least a few days before?

David, I think the day is not too far off when even the desktop will be obsolete. Take my grandchilds statement, they do their schoolwork on smartphones these days.

I do alot of my bookings and amendments whilst at work.  The app is alot quicker and slicker than using the website via the phone.  Sites you visit regular can be put into the favourites section for easy access. You can access your bookings with just a couple of clicks.  You can phone sites and CL's straight out of the app.  I've not had a chance to fully explore the app as yet, but from what I've seen so far it will suit my needs very well indeed.

    Hello JD6620

thanks for the feedback.  If you spot any information which is out of date on the website do please let me know so I can take it up with the CL owner.  Drop me an email at
clamendments@caravanclub.co.uk   We shall be working on the new Sites Directory and Handbook this year and we ask all our CL owners to carefully check their entries to ensure we have the most up to date information.
    Many thanks   Sandie

I have had time to have a better look at it and I think it is very well designed. Like David I think we will rarely use it, as most of our booking is done well in advance. However, on the rare occasions I have had to use the phone, for the main web site,
it has been very difficult. The app is much better and will be really useful for those who regularly use phones. One thing I think they should have included, as it is a new shiny product, is the ability to search for service pitches. If it is available I have
    not found it.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for posting on this thread and yes, the UK site app may well be part of an announcement at the NEC………Smile

For those wondering why we have launched the app but not promoted it, the reason is that although the app is readily available on iPhone and Android devices there is a bespoke iPad version that hasn’t quite made it into the App Store yet. We’re expecting this to become available some point later this week and from then on we’ll be spreading the good news that the UK site app is ready and available for members to download and get using.

Thank you to those who have already downloaded and begun using the app. Our aim was to develop an app that made finding sites, making bookings and managing those bookings as quick, simple and convenient as possible. Your feedback is invaluable, gratefully received and will help guide how we develop and evolve the app going forward.

Thanks again to everyone and we hope to see as a many of you as possible at the NEC next week.
