Quiet dog friendly beaches in the north east
my friend and I want to take our dogs to the north eastcoast, we've never been there. Anyone recommend any site or place near quiet beaches/ areas to walk, dog friendly. Places we can let them run!

Most of the beaches in the N.East ie Northumberland are dog friendly, and there are mile and miles of sand!! Do you want
Club sites or CLs? There are good beaches to the north on the CC's Old Hartley site at Whitley Bay. There are also good ones near the C&CC's Dunstan Hill site.0 -
Try Fowberry Farm [CL] - it's between Bamburgh & Seahouses.
This was my our review from our Oct 2015 trip:-
This was a return trip to Fowberry Farm for us, having stayed for the first time in Sept 2012. Nothing much has changed apart from a stronger Wi-Fi signal [free access after gaining
the code from the notice board] and the fact that the CDP & waste water dumping area now has some fencing around it. The shower [50p for approx. 10 minutes] & the toilet are just as before- in the farmhouse lobby - but that is fine. The attraction for us was still the closeness of the Northumberland coastline. As other have stated, the walk to the beach is directly from the farm on a recognised footpath and only
takes 15 minutes at most before you have access to miles & miles of wide sandy beaches plus the views of the Farne Islands & Bamburgh Castle. We did visit The Castle Inn in Bamburgh and were able to sit in the beer garden at the rear with our dog. Fish & chips
at The Neptune in Seahouses were the best for a good while.By leaving site you can access more super beaches like the section at Embleton that also gives views to
Dunstanburgh Castle. If you can look past the “commercial” element [4 more pitches] to what is supposed to be a 5 pitch CL, all is fine. The current nightly rates [2015] are graduated from £14 during low
season to £18 during the summer months. Just about right we think.PilgrimPhil

Sorry to ask, but should this be included with Rowena's post as requested?

Try Spring Hill Farm - it's 1 mile from Seahouses (easy walk on country lanes and then cycle path) then you can walk to Bamburgh in one direction or Beadnell in the other. The stretch of beach between Bamburgh and Seahouses is just astounding. Lots of
eating places in Seahouses are dog friendly. Make sure you get some fish and chips from Neptunes and sit on the benches above the harbour.0 -
Druridge Bay is our favourite beach up there
We liked that one this December. We stayed on a CL near Morpeth, Contryside Cottage, No.1319 in the SD, and it was only a short drive to the beach.

Further south:
- Roker beach (just north of Sunderland) is a well used dog walk area. In the summer the southern part is off limits but that still leaves plenty of area to use
- Seaham beach. Also, just south of Seaham is Hesledon beach (between Noses Point and Chourdon Point)
- Redcar, Marske and (especially) Saltburn beaches.
Also look at Kielder water. Not on the coast, but plenty of area to run / swim.

Hello pamperdy, and welcome to CT. Northumberland has some of the loveliest beaches in England, and dogs are welcome on lots of the beaches, as with anywhere else you just need to do your homework and research for any restrictions in place up and down the
coast, and at different times of the year. We have stayed at lots of locations, Club Site near Berwick, CL at Beal, CL near Bamburgh, private site near Belford, and all are within easy access of some fabulous beaches, such as Goswick and Cocklawburn. Vast
dune backed stretches of golden sands, with few humans on them at certain times.(As a new CT poster you perhaps won't understand the posts asking if your thread needs moving to somewhere else. Don't worry though, if it is, someone may think they are helping. Don't be put off asking for help. Personally I think that you are asking about
somewhere nice to stay, rather than about dog behaviour/welcome/ other aspects of dog ownership.) hope this helps.0 -
Hi as others have said, you will be spoilt for choice of dog friendly almost deserted beaches in Northumberland......I should know, I'm lucky enough to live there. So, pick a site somewhere near the coast and the nearest beach will be fantastic. I can personally
recommend Druridge Bay, Bamburgh, Low Newton by the Sea and Embleton. You're going to love it!0 -

Was it not the intention of Rowena that all constructive comments and questions regarding caravanning with dogs be contained in one thread to avoid duplicate threads and the bickering that was taking place at the time. I believe this has been successful,
and should continue.0 -
Totally agree BM, however I think it unlikely that this OP, who is fairly new to CT will have come across the fact that most things relating to dogs on Club sites, and Caravanning with dogs is contained within one huge thread. I read their OP as wanting
some advice for sites, of all kinds, close to beaches in Northumberland, which I think is the way most other people have responded. Just trying to help out with locations, the dog bit is secondary I think. Let's not put a new user off asking for help if we
