Hi, we're heading to Cornwall / Devon for our summer hols and I've booked a few CC sites but Im stuck as to which site to stay at around the Newquay area.  Can anyone recommend a good family site with ample level pitch sizes.  It doesn't have to be a CC
site but Ideally we'd like it to be close to the beach but it wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker.  Thanks in advance

You might like to look at the reports and reviews for Trewan Hall - family owned and run for the last 50 years and very well regarded, but four miles from the beach at Mawgan Porth might be further than you want.

Second Trewan Hall, great family site.  Close to the beach is Porth Beach caravan site.  There is only the road between the site and the beach.  It is about 2 miles from Newquay town centre.  It is a commercial site, not CC or C&CC.

Newquay will be heaving in the summer hols. If you don't mind going a little further down the coast there is a very attractive private site called Tolgate Farm near Perranporth. We haven't used it ourselves but we spend a lot of time in the area (we have
a static down that way) and it always looks like the sort of site we'd go to. Good for the family with a play area and a pets corner. Also a small takeaway which does breakfasts (and presumably other meals during the day.) Just about a mile down the hill to
    Perranporth Beach.

Thanks guys. Both these sites look great. I especially like the look of Trewan Hall. It sounds delightful. Thanks for the help

I stayed at Porth Beach Tourist Park last April - with a THS discount - beach just across the road and many facilities - the road is busy so children would need to be supervised but it might fit your bill. That's Newquay more or less.

Sites at Holywell Bay or Crantock are an alternative, v busy in the height of the summer but big sandy beaches adjoining.

There's also the CCC Tregurrian site at Watergate Bay.  The beach and village are just down the hill, not far at all.  If you skip across the field you can access the costal path rather than walk on the road ;-). The beach is
stunning with lots of watersports options and Newquay isn't far away.

I would second Tolgate Farm great site.  It gets booked up early for school summer holidays, very family friendly with large play field and animals to pet.  I've been going to this site since I was a kid!
