Caravan/Trailer Registration for Travel through EU

Has anyone completed the registration on the .gov website? It is suggested to be needed to take a caravan/trailer through certain EU countries e.g. France. It costs £26 for initial registration and provides a 2nd registration plate that has to be fixed to the rear of the caravan?

    Completed last October.

We have been in Holland, now Belgium since May 12th, and so far all the UK vans I've spotted have a plate. One had a yellow plate and two others did not have them high up away from the UK plate, but next to the UK plate.

There is at least one discussion on the registration of trailers/caravans on this forum. A search should reveal all.

I have tried to register but the DVLA rejects my caravan's VIN. I have discovered this is because my VIN genuinely contains the character 'O', but their system assumes this is cannot be the case as car VINS don't contain 'O', or 'I' for that matter.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and can offer me some advice? All my attempts to resolve the matter with the DVLA have failed, and I have put some proper effort in!

I'd get in touch with the manufacturer of the caravan to ask whether there may have been an error in issuing the VIN with an 'O' instead of a '0'.
