I have just looked at booking a ferry Harwich to the Hook, 23.00 sailing with a basic 2 berth cabin, £524.

Then I thought CMC are always banging on about doing it through them for cheaper rates, £630, Mmmm not cheaper!

They are not always the cheapest, but do offer some good deals. I know if you have to amend a booking with them then as the "3rd party" it is not as easy. Brittany ferries are also better going direct and DFDS on Newhaven-Dieppe if you are over 60 and phone the booking in.

I think you may have missed a club offer, as in November we booked Harwich to Hook of Holland for a lot less. Outward bound ONLY, up to 6m caravan & car, 2 adults, Tuesday 12th May 09:00, 2 berth inside cabin at a £25 supplement as we have driven through the night, £147:30 in total.

    EDIT

I have just checked the prices and it looks like your night time crossing is correctly priced as the costs jump up. You may want to consider the day crossing. I know when we land we are heading east to Utrecht, about 1 1/4hrs away from the port and this is about in the middle of NL.

Yes, the daytime crossings are considerably cheaper than overnight on that route.

If you are also a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club have a look there. The prices are the same as with CMC, but you book directly with the operator Stena Line, so it will be easier if you need to amend the booking.

Hi @greylag and hank you for your post.

Members receive great deals from many of the Ferry Operators that we work with. For ferries from Harwich to the Hook we use Stena Line. Members can take advantage of a 10% discount on the Economy vehicle fare (discounts do not apply to cabins or fees) and receive a free upgrade to Stena's Flexi Fare.

If you are flexible with your travel plans, you can also get a motorhome up to 12m for the price of a standard car on day sailings all year. If you have a Caravan, Caravans are free on Day Sailings from January to June and September to December. In June and July, the caravan rate is 50% off.

Thanks for your replies……..We had to go overnight, as we couldn't guarantee to get to the campsite in time on the day crossing. We now have all day to wander through Holland.
