Overnight electricity available in French microsites?

hello, we're new to this. We're planning a trip to France in April/May. We need overnight electricity (and possibly a hard-standing if its going to rain a lot) so my husband wants me to book bigger well known sites only. I however would like to enjoy some of the micro-sites that seem to be available (or even aires?). What do you recommend for a first-time please ?

If you are considering Aires I assume you have a motorhome/camper? From many years of touring in France, campsites with hardstandings are few and far between. However most of the Aires will probably have a firmer base on which to park on. Might be an idea to give us an indication on what part of France you want to visit, this makes it easier to make suggestions.

I think you might be referring to sites provided by CampingCarPark. These are specifically designed for motorhomes. Not all have hard standings but are very unlikely to be on soft ground. Checkout their >web site< I have been using them for a few years now so if you have any more questions about them, I will be happy to help if I can. Enjoy your new motorhome.

Traveling in April / May you don’t really need to book anything, you will find plenty of availability. That way if your selected site does not meet your requirements you can move on to an alternate. We use the camping car park sites mentioned above a lot and the only ones that have had to be careful on in wet weather are the Mon village type. Those are the orange icon on the camping car park map and in a previous life were municipal sites. They generally are mainly grass with only limited hardstanding areas. One thing to bear in mind is that on camping car park sites the electricity supply is only 6 amps, although this will also be the case on many others smaller sites.

thank you all very much for your comments. i've taken ages and booked a number of larger sites throughout France (doing a clockwise tour via lyon, dordogne, back again) mainly through CAMC (and looked at campingcarpark). Excited !
