Has anyone any experience of the new EES going via Portsmouth & Caen. How does it work please? Thank-you.

Yes, thanks peedee. I found that there seems to be an app you can use to set things up in advance.

Edit: But it’s only for Sweden!! 😪

I can't see any reference to Sweden in the link that peedee provided. Besides, the same entry requirements apply to all countries of the Schengen agreement, not just Sweden.

There is a reference to Sweden, not relating to entry requirements, but relating to the fact that they, so far, are the only country which supports the Travel to Europe app. None of the other countries do as yet.

OK, I've found it now, too, but the Travel to Europe app isn't mandatory and serves only to allow one to enter details into the system in advance before actually reaching the border.

For what it is worth, they are not fingerprinting anyone at Bilbao. It took us 100 minutes plus to get through passport control from when they started unloading the ferry as it was. and we were by no means the last. I dread to think how long it would have taken had they been registering everyone on board.

thank-you one and all. From further research I now believe that EES processing will be made on arrival in Caen (nothing on departure from Plymouth). Apparently staff hand out tablets to drivers & passengers to complete photos and fingerprints.
