Hi everyone,

We are in the process of organising some fun event weekends at our UK Club campsites for 2026, which will include outdoor cinemas, water sports, craft beer tastings, and wellness activities. We would greatly appreciate your input on any activities you might be interested in.

If you have a spare moment we would be really grateful if you could completed this brief survey.

Many thanks! 😊

I can remember the wine tasting that was put on at Hillside, I believe it was done by St Austels Brewery in conjunction with Brown Bros wine. I certainly enjoyed the one I attended and got hooked on some of their wines. Sadly they were never repeated and Brown Bros wines are difficult to come by.

i have responded to this on the club Facebook page. There is no option to say none of the events. So you only complete the survey if you agree!! If I wanted to go to a holiday park with entertainment then I can do that . If I choose a club site it would Definately not be for entertainment. If this idea goes ahead I do hope the club will make it very clear, at least on the individual site web page, what events and when are taking place, so I can avoid them. It would not be fair to those seeking a peaceful stay if these activities are only advertised separately so only those interested see the options.

I now realise that the questionnaire has been substantially revised. Even the question that presumed you had a dog!! I hope the club will flag the revised questionnaire on its Facebook site so those who could not complete the survey now can.

    Hi @Hja

Thanks for your feedback. We totally understand that some members wouldn't want to be part of the events taking place on our campsites and as such we are looking to host these on Club campsites that have separate areas we can potentially utilise such as rally fields so those who don't want to be involved can still enjoy their stay in the usual way. Regarding the amended form, this was updated following feedback from the Facebook post and we appreciate you taking the time to fill it out.

When I first read the questionaire,I thought we had to name the sites suitable for the Event weekends,so I actually thought that Hillhead would be the most suitable with its on site bar already available to cater for events.

But I have say some of the events on the list surely the Club must have to pay for the service for the event to take place,i.e silent disco, comedy nights ect.I can see some like wine tasting which we have attended in France can be self financing.

I have to say I do hope that site pricing would not be affected even more than they are already.

Hi @Fozzie I think the idea is that you would buy a ticket to the event if you wanted to attend so it wouldn't affect the pitch price. If you didn't want to attend and were staying on the campsite you would just pay for the pitch in the normal way. The ticket price for the event would cover the cost of activities.

I think you run the risk of putting off as many people as you attract with this idea. We would be very upset if we pre booked a site, and then arrived to find that this had been arranged during the interim.

I presume that in this case you would contact members who had pre booked, giving them the opportunity to cancel without forfeit of deposit?

What a coincidence😁 I am just in the throes of rejoining us as Members, after something like an 18 month break, so have read this with interest. I completed the questionnaire, and I didn’t tick all the options, mainly because there are things I simply don’t fancy. However, there are a few that I think would be a nice idea, and some that we have actually experienced whilst on camping holidays elsewhere. I have absolutely zero interest in a site that has “Club” type indoor venue on-site, but we have done a live outdoor music night on a few sites and had a lot of fun. Likewise, an outdoor film would be good. Wander across with your own chairs, a picnic basket/drink, just enjoy. What’s not to like to be honest. Same with a few of the other things listed. Needs to be in a separate area, and does need highlighting on “before you book” info, so that those not keen can either book another date or plan to not be on-site if it’s a noisy event such as live music.

Would I be happy if site fees go up to cover events? No.

Would I pay a small amount for some events? Possibly, depends on event.

I hope there will be a list of which sites may be used, as I can make sure I don’t book them

I ticked quite a few of the options. Obviously some things like live music, outdoor cinema might have a noise impact, but most of the others not likely to be noisy. Having spent a night (never again) at Hurn Lane one November during the fireworks festival, it wasn’t noise from the Club Site that was horrendous, it was others around. We were on-site at Warwick Racecourse one night when there was a huge Cinema night on organised by the Racecourse, but it wasn’t bad at all.

Ferry Meadows has a rally field, Hawes has a field next door, Yellowcraig has a big dog walk field suitable for events, possible venues for HD to avoid during events?

The cinema might use the same technology as the silent disco, that is a set of headphones for each person. Now some people might think a silent disco won't work as not everyone like the same taste in music and wouldn't be for them, but it's actually very clever and good fun and can be shared all ages on sites from kids to grandparents.

I haven't been to one by my 'children' (all over 28 now) have. All you need is your mobile phone with wifi and a set of earphones either wired or bluetoothed. You're given a code for a website where you choose the genre/music type/group/sixties/seventies/even waltzes/dance types… you get the idea and off you go. So you'll see all types of dances being danced all in silence and all at different beats and tempos, I'm told you can even make up your own playlists. It's also a spectator sport and quite fun to watch really I'm told. You have to be careful not to shout to each other though.

Now of course this all assumes club sites have enough wifi power? And enough people vote for it?

As for the other activities? At least campers will know in advance and can stay away and it will be over by a certain time, afternoons might be a good time for music?

We were at Seacroft one year and Melrose another when there was a circus just next door that went on till well past 10, wasn't that bad just repetitive after a week.

We did a few off road camping weekends where there was music in the evenings. Good fun, most folks happy to join in. But shared interests of course, not for everyone. Outdoor films would be nice and relaxing, they are popular at historic houses. We did English National Opera at one, and have been to a few Shakespeare plays at outdoor venues.

I have not filled the survey in as I would perhaps like some (quiet) events but not others, but the survey simply asks for a yes or no answer and not maybe!

I filled in the questionaire, but we are not generally able to get out at weekends. It does, however, give a 'weekday option' somewhere in the questionaire. Although I'm not a fan of entertainment/ 'live music' on site, I'm always,up for a spot of wine tasting!!! 🤣🤣🤣

A lot of indoor events and activities listed in the questionnaire. Is the Club going to start building?

Thanks for your feedback so far everyone. To further clarify there will likely be four weekends in total, only on two campsites, in separate parts of the campsite to avoid disruption to those that don't wish to participate. We will have information about the event for these campsites on relevant website pages for people's reference.

The events are going to be very relaxed and not a big party, with respectful end times to avoid disruption.

The survey comes up with the wrong email address, not the one I'm registered with here. I have a google account, which is probably why. I'm asked for a password if I switch my email to the one I use here. I therefore can't do the survey.

As to entertainments, we only like classical or jazz music. We don't have kids. I would be put off by the thought of entertainment. We'd go somewhere else.

I am glad that someone explained what "A Silent Disco"was I was wondering! Just so happens that we have just watched an episode of the new series of "Patience" and there was one featured where everyone wears headphones, so unlikely yo impact on others?

You never know, taking part in a “silent disco” could prove educational to some of those who have TVs and music in awnings, if you use Bluetooth headphones, no one else has the delights of sharing your viewing/music choices🤭 I use bluetooth headphones sometimes when gardening……doesn’t annoy the neighbours.

@eurortravelleras far as I can see, all the events listed could be done outside, certainly the stuff like cooking, Pilates/fitness, craft classes. Just needs a patch of grass, no rain, bit of equipment. I regularly used to organise mass fitness, step, aerobics sessions for Sport Aid charity events……a portable sound system, some mats and a coach. Done selective craft classes outdoors as well, and been to cookery demos. All good fun.

My pleasure @DavidKlyne. They are fun to watch I'm told. And I like Patience too.

So two sites and four weekends which is hardly likely to disrupt normal activities too much if at all I should imagine, I hope the two sites are 'evenly' spaced throughout the network but then again the sites will have to be big enough to attract the numbers and to keep disruption to a minimum.

@Takethedogalong : I assumed everyone would be listening/ dancing to the same music, just listening through headphones.... ??? I would 't be takiing part, but it might be quite amusing to watch - well, for a short while!!

Very amusing DSB🤭 But then you only have to walk down a train carriage to get the same effect🤣 Some singing along, some semi dancing, some tapping out beat on table tops, some fast asleep. Throw in a bit of alcohol and it’s could be very amusing, but a lot quieter than some awning parties I have witnessed🤭

They are very popular, and held in some fabulous locations……..

There are a long list of big cathedrals used for silent disco’s, Canterbury, Exeter, Durham, etc…….and other spaces like British Museum, Royal Armouries. Fundraisers that keep these wonderful buildings going, introduce them to a different customer base.

'This is strictly an 18+ event and valid photo ID may be requested on entry'

That probably won't be much of a problem on club sites?

I would have thought those interested in these kind of events would have been members of Centres?

Not sure if that’s a quote from one of the links I posted @Cornersteady ? They are all over 18’s events I think, possibly because there will be a drinks license applied for, and adult themed. Club could easily do “silent day disco’s” though with soft drinks, an age limit and parental supervision not far away……just don’t let the adults have alcohol as well🤭

@peedee, I don’t think you have to be “Centre” minded to be interested in most of the things listed, lots of non centre members cycle, walk, cook, like wines, do crafts, keep fit, etc…… it’s a way of getting some folks from out of their awnings, watching a bit less TV or doom scrolling, and enjoying the more social opportunities that unite folks, for those that want to do a bit of something different. Hidden away in their own little camping bubble are lots of creative, energetic, very social folks, who might dip a toe into one or two events, and thoroughly enjoy them. I’d give most a try. It’s similar to what organisations like the NT do, with foraging, cycling, walking sessions, craft sessions, even their shops do a bit of wine tasting, I know, I tried Ginger Wine and have to limit my intake🤭 I’d love a silent disco with friends, particularly outdoors on a summer evening.

I initially thought that The Club putting on entertainment might be a stretch too far and possibly going for another rebrand to Haven! 😳😂 But to be honest, I’m definitely warming to the idea now, in view of how others have described potential silent discos, etc, (all be it, we’d mainly be interested in the afternoon). I filled in the questionnaire and would certainly be interested in walking activities, as my husband has mobility problems and I don’t like to walk places I’m not familiar with on my own.
