Basically you are spoilt for choice. Most folk head towards Sarlat, a city surrounded by excellent sites.

Unfortunately it gets very busy, so we go further out and visit the town by day trips.

If you head east towards Bergerac you will find things quieter and just as scenic. I can highly recommend

Home - Camping Le Port de Limeuil It is probably the best kept site we have stayed on in over 20 years of caravanning in France.

Colin is right - you are spoiled for choice as there are so many high quality sites and they have to compete with each other.

If I must name one I suggest Camping La Bouysse de Caudon because it’s on a very pretty stretch of the river.

But choosing campsites is a very personal thing and I was always happier at somewhere smaller and simpler .

Agree with Colin Port de Limeuill is a very pleasant site right on the river. On the other side of the river are some nice gardens you can visit with views over both rivers.

We stayed here when we last visited the area. It's right on the river by the walled village of Domme and within easy reach of Sarlat and the several Rock Villages.

A compact site but with 2 swimming pools plus the adjacent river. It's set in a Walnut orchard, handy for shade, although there is an unshaded area if you prefer. If you know about the ACSI scheme then I'm fairly sure they took that card, best checking if they still do.
